What would you consider as evidence that JWs have "The Truth"?
by Tuesday inone of the questions i ask jws before discussing anything with them is:.
"what facts, evidence or otherwise would you consider as proof that jehovah's witnesses are not the true religion?".
i thought it was unfair to simply ask that of them so i figured i'd answer a similar question:.

Youtube video asking them "Are All JW's Ordained Ministers?"
by OnTheWayOut inthe youtuber, publishingcult says to download and share the videos, so i am sharing.. this is a part 2, but a stand-alone video.
he asks jw's if they are ordained ministers.. the answers blow away the "unity" of the members.
i may try this when stranger jw's approach me and say "why do i get different answers?".

Who'd you rather trust, a surgeon with a graduate degree or a homespun do-it-yerselffer?
Slightly off topic, but this question carries even heavier weight when you ask believers in the Bible who would they rather trust in terms of who actually translated their Bible for them. This does not speak well to the NWT.

Good for you, cantleave.
I am in the midst of trying to prevent as much as possible from having my daughter indoctrinated in the cult philosophy.
You're coming out while my wife is going in.

Possible Blood Doctrine Change: A Hypothetical Conversation with all JWs

I recall someone posting on another thread how important it is for the society to change their stance on the whole blood thing. I personally agree that this issue is a legal time bomb considering the number of emotionally charged lawsuits brought against the society over this issue. All it takes is one win and there would be an avalanche of lawsuits that would overwhelm the society, bringing it to its knees.
They would be crazy not to make this a concious matter. The whole hospital liason committee is in and of itself a legal liability. There are doctor patient confidentiality laws that seem to be if not broken then definitely bruised when the whole liason committee gets between a doctor and his or her JW patient. In addition to this, giving elders 'power of attorney' priveleges over immediate family members is just a lawsuit waiting to happen.
The WTS's best bet is to get out of the whole business of dictating what they think God thinks over the matter of blood transfusions and let it be a concious matter between the Jehovah's Witness and Jehovah God.

In all seriousness, this is how it plays out, for most.
- WT makes a change.
- Publisher thinks, "Wow! Truly they are the Faithful Slave! They have corrected their mistake, no matter how embarrassing it may have been!"
I can vouch for that, when I showed my wife a page in the proclaimers book that showed the use of pyramidology my wife's words were, "Isn't it wonderful how the society admits their mistakes and corrects them!"

Leaving WT
There are even groups out there that find the blood issue to be their only hangup. So, for these folks, they would run back to WT, more encouraged than ever.
Wasn't this the very reason why you disassociated yourself?

poppers: Wow, five marraiges. I know someone at work who's been married that many times. All I can say is, if I screw it up once, I may consider remarriage. Twice? Well I think I would just call it quits.

My views on marriage have certainly changed as have my wife's. I think we still love each other and she has recently started warming up to me and have not been ignoring my affection. After approximately 7 years of marraige, I am learning that not everything will go as expected or planned and there is not way one party can control or change the other.
Would I do it over again? I would have to think about that but I do not regret my choice. Should things ultimately not work out between us all I have to say is I doubt very seriously I would get remarried. It would take an extraordinary lady to change my mind.
Meanwhile, I am still holding out hope that my wife and I will keep things together.

Well, I am going to celebrate my daughter's birthday at her school this year and may do something special that all of the kids will like. My wife and some of her coworkers threw a birthday party for her assistant last year (before the baptism) and I may see if they will return the favor for her this year.
