Would doubting Thomas be an atheist today?
by yadda yadda 2 inhow could it be reasonable for jesus to condemn skeptics today when one of his own apostles, who had witnessed jesus pre-death miracles, refused to believe in the resurrection until he had physical proof?.
doesn't the fact that jesus willingly gave thomas the requested proof set a precedent for all other skeptics down through time?
isn't the burden of proof on jesus to provide indisputable evidence that he is now alive given that so much time has passed since his claimed resurrection, and until he does that, it would be immoral for jesus to judge anyone?.

Isn't that especially also the case since God took no action to prevent numerous religious "artfully contrived stories" and other claimed holy scriptures to be invented with their millions of adherents?
I've wondered about that a lot lately. For me, it would seem that if the whole doctrines of Christianity are so concrete, why so many different teachings based on it? Why are new religions emerging all the time and why does it seem like we are always reaching out to the 'lost' especially in areas of the world where Christianity dominates? I never understood, for example, why missionaries from the U.S. are sent to places like Europe. Didn't Christianity spread to the North and South American continents from Europe? It is as if, our brand of Christianity is better than their's even though ours originated from them.
No, believers will say you have all the proof you need but refuse to see/hear it. The burden has shifted.
Doubting Thomas was shown the evidence and then he believed but Jesus called the ones who did not see but still believed blessed. That verse (John 20:29) would be immediately referenced by believers posing these questions. That, along with the things Tammy is saying.

So the Governing Body alone is now the Faithful and Discreet Slave?
by garyneal ini'm just catching up on the latest buzz here and it appears that there is a lot of buzz on the 'new light' coming from the watchtower concerning the governing body and the faithful and discreet slave.
if true, i can really use this to trick my wife and in-laws (who are coming in this weekend) to contradict the new light.. at first i was going to say that this can answer moshe's question regarding who really is the fds but i understand that the change simply means when the body meets on doctrinal matters is when they are collectively the fds.
is that correct?.

Knowing JWs, I expect the new light will go over just fine in the KH- nary a peep of discontent will be heard--
Sadly, I would have to agree with you there. I do, however, recall Brother Hero telling me that when Paul and Silas had to confirm what rules needed to be followed which ultimately led to the boundaries established in Acts 15:29 they went to the governing body that existed then. Under this new light, those men were not amongst the FDS.

Was the Christ invisibly present in 1914?
by wannabe inwas jesus invisibly present in 1914?.
at this point, some may ask, what exactly are, the appointed times of the nations?
notice from the words of jesus, this trampling first began at the murder of abel by his brother cain, who was the, 'seed of satan the devil.

I thought I heard Billy the Ex-bethelite had a paycheck that was invisibly present since 1914.
I'm not sure.
