What "works befitting repentance" were shown at the city of Nineveh in Jonahs time- did all 100,000 plus inhabitants all feel regret. What about king David, the Prodigal son parable?
They were sorry - no proof - God forgave them
a couple years ago the cos and dos were pushing a letter at elders meetings about being more critical of so-called repentant wrongdoers and being tougher on such claims.
do their recent works prove it.
don't just believe tears.

A couple years ago the COs and DOs were pushing a letter at elders meetings about being more critical of so-called repentant wrongdoers and being tougher on such claims. Are they really sorry? Do their recent works prove it. Don't just believe tears. Did they fully disclose all of their wrongdoing?
I got so tired of trying to do Jesus job since our committees always did a poor job anyway. One or two hour JC meeting of personal questions isn't much help to a person. A CO actually wanted us to re-open a case because we didn't disfellowship a fatherless young person. (The stories of the two wrongdoers weren't exactly the same.)
I wish the GB had to face a Judicial Committee for every doctrine change. Would they be honest and forthcoming? Would they manifest 'works beffitting repentance"? Of course they would. They would be cut to the heart. Probably even tears
i have always been taught and believed that, at the end of the day, god is a perfect balance of love, justice, wisdom, and power.
when the ransom provision and christ's kingdom correct man's fall into sin, we will see this as true, no matter what trials we and all of mankind have had to face until then.
honestly, it has never mattered which of the two groups i was in.

Honestly, it has never mattered which of the two groups I was in. I just wanted to see a hope for everyone. The appeal of the JW teaching of a paradise earth is that many who died in ignorance get another chance.
So my question is this. What happens to the person who lived and died in China 3000 years before Christ and never even heard of a Jew? What happens to a mentally disabled person? What happens to a nice Muslim lady who is confined to her house all of her life and never taught to read or think? Is the Earth involved at all in the kingdom?
Scriptures:
'let your will be done on earth as in heaven' - 'the meek shall inherit the earth'
'resurrection of righteous and unrighteous' - 'do not marvel - all in the memorial tombs will here his voice and come out' - 'the leaves on the trees are for the healing of the nations' - 'flesh and blood cannot inherit God's Kingdom'
Thanks in advance for your patient and kind responses.
the recent "generation" explanation redo says that the generation means the anointed living now, and we can still have more anointed, therefore there is no limit on how long the generation can run.
this is an attempt to keep 1914 alive and healthy.. however, the wts still teaches that the great crowd began to be gathered in the 1930's (ex: rutherford had people stand and said "behold, the great multitude) since revelation defines the great crowd as coming out of the great tribulation, doesn't that create a life span problem?
what is going through the minds of even the youngest baptized 10 year old members of the great crowd in 1935 who are now in there 80's.. the other sheep of john 10 seems to fit a discription of gentiles.
Maybe Rutherford should have said " Behold - the Other sheep" and made no reference to GC never having to die

I don't think the "class" argument would work. As soon as a person dies he is no longer of the GC class - he is now OS
Maybe?

However, the WTS still teaches that the great crowd began to be gathered in the 1930's (ex: Rutherford had people stand and said "Behold, the great multitude) Since Revelation defines the great crowd as coming out of the great tribulation, doesn't that create a life span problem? The Other sheep of John 10 seems to fit a discription of Gentiles. But, the WTS distinguishes Other sheep and great crowd with a slight difference. OS will live on earth, even if resurrected, but GC live through the great tribulation. So, maybe Rutherford should have said, "Behold.. a few of you little kids are part of the Great Multitude if you live well past your 80's"
My point is, why do they still teach that the GC began to be gathered in the 1930's. It's getting to the point were their life span doesn't fit the definition. They seem to be always occupied with how prophesy applies to the annointed, but the GC generation isn't working either. Instead of counting the remaining memorial partakers. Let's just count how many OS/GC were baptized in the 1930's, because the end has to come before they die. Right?
witness yearbooks are full of experiences where jehovah saved a poor witness who prayed for help...and the soldiers walked passed and did not see them etc, etc.
however, other brothers prayed and still got executed by gillotine so...why does gods will allow such things?
isn't this just random chance put down as god's will?
Scully-
I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties. The fact that little help came from the JW's is no surprise to me. I didn't say that JW's are good for that kind of help. I was talking about all good people who prove what they are by their actions.

Only Pioneers find five dollars in the trash can, just in time to buy a few gallons of gas so they can make it to meeting. Even when I was an elder, I would never put such stuff in my meeting parts.
However, this does raise some questions regarding God's care for his servants. David said that as he grew old he had never seen the righteous left entirely, or his offspring begging for bread. Jesus said to seek first the kingdom and all these other things will be added to you.
Certainly David experience hunger and thirst in his lifetime. So, what did he mean? God has certainly provided a head on our shoulders and other abilities to provide for ourselves with effort. But when such fails at times, much of our assistance seems to come from godly associates who see our plight and offer assistance. This truly is a provision from God and we can be thankful. We look after orphans and widows in their tribulations, and when we see someone in need, we don't just say - go keep warm and well-fed.
Any other ideas?
we have all heard how the gb can make mistakes and it's ok because jesus apostles had wrong expectations too.
for instance.
peter had faults, james and john too - also, "lord, are you restoring the kingdom to isreal at this time" - etc.
thanks for your comments - they are truly appreciated.
Narkissos - I'm very sorry if my question was prejudiced. It really wan't intended to be. But thanks for pointing that out.
thanks again to all
i have been posting on here this week, and all i can say is this has been the best form of therapy!
there are some amazing people on here, many who have been through the same thing, if not much worse.
there are so many of you that i would love to converse with, but understand why this format is for the best at this time.. i am in the early stages of breaking the chains that bind, and i need some suggestions on reasoning on these 2 points.
According to the NWT "Do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together"
Since Jews attended the synagogue on sabbath at the most, is it reasonable that Christian meetings attended by fleshly Jews were more than once a week? If that? And what is the definition of "forsake". It carries the idea of never ever going to a Christian gathering of any kind ever again, it certainly doesn't mean that you aren't at all 5 meetings a week. The only 5 in Hebrews is the in the verse number "25" which was added centuries later. Did the Galation congregation meet as often as the Romans, or the Corinthians? Who knows?
How about congregations in Roman cities? Many of the christians were slaves. Do you think their non-christian masters let them go to meetings, and if not, did Paul condemn them for something out of their control?
With the way Jewish women were viewed in their society. Is it realistic to assume that groups of them went door to door? Of course, there were excellent female evangelizers, but their forum seems usually to be informal.
If you go door to door today, what if you find interest? Can you in good conscience teach Watchtower chronology? Can you encourage a person to join a group who could later, very well be shunning them over a conscience matter like blood.
