This thread (though old) is amazing. Incredible and unbelievable stories on here. So sad to see individuals lives destroyed by a high control religion -

Thinking about disassociating yourself - STOP!...at least for a moment
by rory-ks in(this recent forum post about a letter of disassociation encouraged me to post this new topic.
it's been sitting in my drafts folder for a little while, but now is as good a time as any.).
my suggestion would be, try not to go down the route of disassociation.

I agree, it is an individuals choice to do so or not. However, For me personally, who exactly are you giving the power to if you officially decide to leave. Clearly disassociating yourself empowers the 7 guys in Brooklyn New York. If you want to leave, just leave ie fade. Don't give the GB the power. Just my thoughts! -

Double life
by Esmeralda001 inis there a way i can successfully live a double life?
don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to get engaged in activities that are condemnable according to the *bible* (not the *wt*) standards.
i figured that the only way i can get the brothers and sisters to leave me along is by pretending that i am an unemployed drop out.

Hi Esmarelda. Just be you....that's all you need to do. You can be a Christian without having to be a Christian jw style. I have to work amongst 'worldly' people. I take each person as they come. If an individual is an idiot, I avoid them. If they are a nice person, I don't mind associating with them (within reason) and in accord with 'biblical Christian guidance'. Just as an example, my wife is very balanced though jw through and through. She often is invited out by her work associates. She often attends because she feels comfortable having a good night out with them. You weigh up things and decide between what you think is right or what might be wrong according to your own conscience. You can be you and be a Christian without jw rules. -

Hello, I'm new here too!
by redpilltwice inhi everybody, 1st post here.
20 years jw, elder for 6 years, regular pioneer for 3 years, have always been following the 2012 candace conti abuse case with much interest, especially since the case suddenly disappeared from www.watchtower.com's news section (thanks brother j. r. brown, office of public information, because it led me to "worldly" websites for more info), leading to more and more dissatisfaction , leading to jwfacts, jwsurvey, ad1914, wtdocuments etc., leading to my awakening about 4 months ago, now fading faster and faster to zero meetings and zero field service...and you know what?
it feels good!.

Hi redpilltwice. It is quite a thing to see an ex elder and pioneer see the things that we see going on within the organisation. They are losing genuine sincere people as a result of their flawed teachings, ridiculous rules and policies which are tamuldic for the most part as ray Franz pertained to when referring to the branch correspondence guidelines. Just to say a big welcome

When they played that tune at our hall. It reminded me of when I was a teen attending the Catholic church on one momentous occasion. My now jw mother forced me to church when she was a devout Catholic. Instead of the usual organ music, a group of dudes on guitar started belting out a hymn and I was thinking wtf. That particular moment popped into my mind when that tune came on at the hall and saw the sisters smiling and and doing their body moves! lol -

Many people are a little shocked when told Jehovah's witnesses are actually Christians. The bible says in the book of Acts in the first century...by divine providence, they became known as ' Christians'. 'Christian witnesses of Yahweh' would be a little bit more appropriate and accurate. Also either removal of or making the writing smaller of what pretty much looks like a business sign ie JW.ORG from outside of kingdom halls would also make them look more like a place of worship to God.
