just a heads up, this thread will contain some personal ramblings and my plans for the future.
if you're not interested, don't waste your time reading it.. .
as many of you know, i've been in law school for the last 2 1/2 years, and have 1 semester left to complete that degree.
"J.D., JD" does have a nice ring to it! In truth, I agree with you. If you don't have the drive to do it, law can burn you out in no time. Not all lawyers make the "big bucks", but most work long and hard trying to. If your heart isn't in it, don't go there. You mentioned the shortage of qualified math teachers, that probably is more of an advantage for HS level than earlier grades. It's not easy to find qualified teachers for trig, calculus and statistics.
After you get the regular teaching certificate and have a few years worth of good references, try to get into a private or religious school. Why? Because the kids there generally want to be there, and the parents care enough to send them there. You won't be dealing with as much of the apathy that runs through a public school student body. That's the main reason private schools have such good graduation and college admission rates: kids who want to be there and parents who actually give a damn about education.
good morning everyone..."happy monday" to you!!.
so for some time now, in attempt to help prevent the dubs from spreading their lies in the magazines, my parents (rock hound and little bo peep) have been stopping by the local laundry mats and taking out all the watchtower and awakes that are left behind and with a pen they write on the magazine, see jwfacts.com, and then they highlight it, and put it back in the laundry mat!
they have been doing this for some time now, and guess what??
So someone must be throwing them out.
Probably the owner or care-taker does that. They don't want customers getting the impression that the owners support a sect that many find offensive. So any literature left there without management approval goes directly to the garbage can. They would do the same with political tracts left there. It's a place of business, not a public forum, so the owner can dispose of any material left there, and remove those who leave it there from the premises.
this week i finally finished college.
feels great to finally be completed.. i have to say that the process has been therapeutic.
a year and a half ago when i started to go back i still defined myself in terms of my experience as a jw.. that is all gone now.
Congratulations, graduate!
2 samuel 7:3...nathan said to the king, "go and do all that is in your mind, for yahweh is with you.. all other translations i have read, including the nwt, say "heart".
why did the jb use the word mind....?.
I can't say which is the more accurate version nor why the JB translators chose that wording. But remember that most other translations came via a common ancestor, Jerome's vulgate (Latin) translation, while the JB was a new translation from Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic sources.
hi all, new posting, but i've been lurking for a while.
i thought it was time to "come out" as it were and voice my story.... i was born into the jw cult surrounded by all of my jw family.
grandfather was an elder for almost 40 years till he passed, both of my uncles are currently now elders and have been for the last 15 years.
Welcome! Yes, it's lonely when you fall away without family and friends on the outside. The WTrelies on that, it's one of the ways they hold in members who have doubts like yours. Don't turn your back on your Witnesss family and friends, even if they do the same to you, but also don't be afraid to add new friends as branch out into the non-WT world. When you need to ask questions, talk or vent, this is a good place to go!
baby girl, 6 lbs, 14 oz, 19-3/4in, looks like me they say.... still in awe... there were some complications, but mom and baby are doing good.
baby's down the hall in nicu and it still doesn't feel real.. .
Congratulations to you on your growing family! I hope she's out of the NICU soon. Love her like what she is, the most important child in your world!
ok just one more about the june 15th wt and then i am done.

it has really made him think over things.. ok first in par 11 it tells us "godly parents are responsible for instructing their children about jehovah and his ways.
Hey Outlaw,
Maybe the Kingdom Hall should put in a drive-through window--so you can pick up some spiritual junk food when there isn't proper time before the young'uns need to go to bed!
I wonder what toy would be in a WT Happy-Witness meal?
ever hear somebody say, "trust your gut..."?.
or, like obe wan kenobe: "trust your feelings...."?.
have you ever followed that "little voice" that whispers to you that you should or should not do something?.
This so-called "law of atdistraction" is a corruption of a genuinely useful technique: Visualize about your goal. Think about what you can do to reach that goal, then do so (don't expect anything to happen if you just lay around waiting for it to happen)! When you encounter a setback, do what you must to recover, then move on toward the goal (don't dwell on the negative and let it become what Pirsig called a "gumption trap"). That is a motivational technique that really works: find a way to make your dream a reality. Wishful thinking leads nowhere; "winners make their own luck"!
