It sounds like a nice venue, and a reasonable price! And if you have a professional offering to handle the food at a reasonable price--go for it! They know the ins and outs of how to have that everything ready on time (so it's not late and not cold), how much to buy, etc. Good luck, and have fun planning it all!

What is the wedding venue, your local church? If so, perhaps you can use the church hall for the reception at little cost. It isn't the Chateau Ritz, but the money you save goes a long way towards nice decorations and the reception. Just saving the cost of renting tables and chairs can be a big help.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
I'm pleased to see you using this source! Since you wish to discuss pedophilia, what does the Catechism say about it? The answer is about 60 pages beyond the passage you quoted:
2389 Connected to incest is any sexual abuse perpetrated by adults on children or adolescents entrusted to their care. The offense is compounded by the scandalous harm done to the physical and moral integrity of the young, who will remain scarred by it all their lives; and the violation of responsibility for their upbringing
Hardly the sort of language that treats children as "sex toys"!
Does Pope Benedict agree with this? Check the imprimatur on your Catechism:

Oh, Crap, JW Family ReunionMy
by StAnn inmy dad hasn't spoken to me in about 18 months after we had a fight over the wts.
(see thread i started then: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/170916/1/id-like-to-shoot-my-dad ).
so, today he calls me and leaves a message that he's having a "family reunion" on june 26 and i'm welcome to come and bring the family.

Just my idea, whether you do this or not depends on whether this sort of thing fits your personality.
How are you at bluff-calling?
First call up your brother, tell him you'll go but only if he does too, and what you'll be doing next if he agrees. Assuming he accepts the offer, call your dad and tell him you're coming, with your brother--but if your brother isn't welcome, you won't be coming either. Make it clear that you won't be a part of shunning your brother, because he's family too! In other words, make him choose whether to do the right thing by removing the easy way out (having you there while excluding your DF'd brother).
The way I see it, the operant word in "family reunion" is family. When they ask you to come to an event where your brother is excluded, that's like asking you to take sides against him. You don't get to choose your family, you don't have to like them--but we are commanded to love them, no matter what.
Good luck in whatever course you choose, StAnn!

Opponents of Jehovah's Witnesses will take a trivial matter and exploit it for self-serving purposes without identifying any organization that measures up to a given standard.
Which trivial matter?
Making a false prediction of armageddon, then telling the believers to liquidate their assets, forego education and careers, not have children, and devote their existence to "the pioneering work" because "the time remaining is so short" is not a trivial matter.
Convincing believers to forego medically appropriate blood transfusions, organ transplants and vaccinations on the basis of far-fetched interpreations of scriptures taken utterly out of context (animal sacrifice and kosher dietary laws having nothing to do with medical treatment) is not a trivial matter.
Telling prospective converts they must question the truth of their own religious beliefs, while insisting believers must not engage in similar "independent thinking" about Watchtower doctrines is not a trivial matter.
Telling members they should treat those who leave the organization with "hate in the truest sense" and should avoid contact with unbelieving family members as much as possible is not a trivial matter.
The Watchtower organization, in particular its Governing Body, has taken serious matters and exploited them for self-serving purposes. Their product is propaganda, no more, no less.

It's more convenient than Belief-o-Matic and the accuracy is better: the flow-chart identifies me as "boring, generic Christian, while the BoM thinks I'm Hindu (probably because they leave out the BACON question).
My Belief-o-Matic top three: Hinduism at 100% (? !), followed by a dead tie between Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholicism (no surprise) at 93%. Jehovah's Witnesses were a distant #20, at 43%.

twisted taliban militants took terror to a new low by accusing a 7-year-old boy of spying - and hanging him high.. that outrage drew immediate condemnation from the afghan president, who called the execution a "crime against humanity.".

Alice, thank you for the reasoned response, I appreciate that!
The Mosaic Law was replaced with the New Covenant.
Christ did not come to "abolish the Law or the Prophets", "but to complete them" (Matthew 5:17-20). The New Covenant removes the call for physical death of false prophets, but false prophecy is sinful under the New Covenant as well as the Old, and will be punished by spiritual death in the world to come.
Christians are to turn away from false prophets and their teachings, which should be "cut down and thrown on the fire" (Matthew 7:15-20). This is repeated in Matthew 12:36-37: "for every unfounded word people utter they will answer on Judgement Day". False prophecy is a sin, for which false prophets will answer to God on the last day.
The Gospels provide other admonitions against false prophecy, including Luke 21:8 and Mark 13:21-23. New Testament scripture is clear: do not follow false prophets, do not believe what they say, do not fear their warnings.
There's nothing that should suggest that any imperfect human or group of humans in the last days should be infallible (immune from liability to error or failure) in matters of interpretation or prophecy.
The men who speak are not infallible themselves. It is the Holy Spirit speaking through the apostles who gives truth which came from the Son, who in turn knows it from the Father (John 14:6-18, 15:26-27, 16:12-15, Luke 10:16).
By the way, your quotation from the Wiki regrading Papal infallibility is much more accurate than the popular notion that "the Pope can do no wrong". Ex Cathedra proclamations are rare: "An infallible pronouncement ... usually is made only when some doctrine has been called into question", and (from another article) ""No doctrine is understood to be infallibly defined unless it is clearly established as such."
You reply includes an assumption that we are now living in "the last days". That assumption must be examined also, but that's a topic for a later date and a different thread.

A false prophet is not necessarily someone who communicates a scriptural inaccuracy or makes a prediction about a future event that fails
Please explain why the Watchtower predictions should not be considered false prophecy. They have prophesied the date of armageddon many times; it did not come to pass in 1914, nor in 1925, nor 1975. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did not return to take up residence at Beth-Sarim. According to Deuteronomy 18:
[20] But the prophet who presumes to say something in my name which I have not commanded him to say, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die."
[21] 'You may be privately wondering, "How are we to tell that a prophecy does not come from Yahweh?"
[22] When a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh and the thing does not happen and the word is not fulfilled, then it has not been said by Yahweh. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. You have nothing to fear from him.'
