I won't be posting because I'm flying to D.C. tomorrow morning.
Leolaia, remembering what happened at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, that sentence gave me a chill!
I'll be putting the flag at half-staff, and will honor the moment of silence here. I'll probably listen to Alan Jackson, too. ==

Im finally leaving my jw husband.
by littlebird insome of you know i have struggled with this for awhile.
i really do believe in marriage and the committment, however, sometimes enough is enough.. his endless preaching at me and calling me and my (adult) children satan has me realizing that this situation is not going to get better.
the other day he kicked my son out of the house for wearing a cap, in his car, with a skull on it.

I'm glad you're doing OK, littlebird. I suspected that your sons probably wouldn't be far behind, once there was a better place to stay!
Don't forget that whatever you owned together in the marriage is half yours. It's a relief to have freedom, but you deserve a fair settlement on the marital property, too.
Take care, and congratulations on starting your new life!

It should be obvious that if the plaintiffs had a strong case against the legal organization in use by JWs, their attorneys would have advised them to not settle and continue their prosecution. If this person really did serve as a prosecuting attorney and there was real evidence of negligence on the part of the of organization, why didn't this attorney pursue a guilty verdict?
Ignorance, Alice, utter ignorance!
First, there are very good reasons why such a case would be settled before trial. In abuse cases, the emotional stress on the victim and witnesses is a huge concern: getting a negotiated settlement brings closer sooner, and spares them the agony of re-living the events on a witness stand. Going to trial is a very expensive proposition, and involves risk of a procedural error, loss of witnesses to illness or accidents, and the likelihood of going through the ordeal many times before appeals are exhausted. For these reasons, among many others, an attorney would be acting unethically by insisting on going to trial when a bona fide settlement offer is on the table.
Second, let's put the shoe on the other foot: why would "the legal organization in use by JWs " offer or agree to a settlement? By your logic, they did no wrong and should have pressed forward to vindication in court and defended their reputation. After all, there must be no reproach braought on the organization! If they knew the plaintiff was lying, they would press on to show the whole world the charges are false!

Is Shunning a Form of Bullying?
by I quit! inif it were done by a group of children in school to another student the school would consider it a form of bullying.
are dubs bullying other dubs when they do this?
to me it seems like a form childish behavior that you would only expect to see in grade school..

"Bullying consists of three basic types of abuse – emotional, verbal and physical. It typically involves subtle methods of coercion such as psychological manipulation." (wikipedia)
By that definition I think it qualifies. Shunning is deliberate abuse, used to coerce a person to rejoin the organization (Watchtower, April 15, 1988, pages 26-31). Whether the victim is thrown inside a metal locker or an emotional one is immaterial, the intent is the same: intimidation, assertion of dominance, humiliation of another person.

There's not a formal arrangement in Jehovah's Organization where elders can abuse children unless they're his own.
What a red herring! It's not about "formal arrangements", its about a person seeking a position of trust to gain access to minors, especially vulnerable minors in need of an adult role model. Any organization putting people in those positions has a moral obligation to carefully select and investigate those in contact with children. It takes more than a mere criminal background check, because records get sealed (especially for juvenile offenders), names get changed, and people move far away to escape their pasts. It takes a thorough psychological evaluation and years of closely-supervised training to gain an insight into the candidate's true character. The Watchtower organization does not embrace those practices; any man proving himself "spiritual" by putting in long service hours, giving the designated answers to the study questions, not disputing the organization, and in general playing the role of a good witness can move up the ranks to MS, elder, and even beyond.
Living in denial endangers children. Awake, Witnesses! Do something about it!

We are not false prophets
by Cook My Socks UK inbelow is the outline for a talk on the service meeting this week, i guess to help ones to answer the objection / accusation - how would you refute, if this reasoning was used by a jw at your door?.

how would you refute, if this reasoning was used by a JW at your door? ... The Scriptures provide time elements related to Christ’s presence, and Jehovah’s Witnesses have studied these with keen interest. (Luke 21:24; Dan. 4:10-17)
"Let's read the entire fourth chapter from Daniel in context. Just after the last verse in your citation, Daniel explains what it is all about: Nebuchadnezzar himself!" From the NJB:
[17] The tree you saw, so large and strong and tall that it reached the sky and could be seen throughout the world, [18] the tree with beautiful foliage and abundant fruit, with food for all in it, providing shade for the wild animals, with the birds of heaven nesting in its branches: 19] that tree is yourself, Your Majesty, for you have grown great and strong; your stature is now so great that it reaches the sky, and your empire extends to the ends of the earth. [20] And the Watchful One seen by the king, the holy one coming down from heaven and saying, "Cut the tree down and destroy it, but leave stump and roots in the ground, bound with hoops of iron and bronze in the grass of the countryside; let it be drenched by the dew and have its lot with the wild animals until seven times have passed over": [21] the meaning of this, Your Majesty, the verdict of the Most High passed on my lord the king, is this: [22] You will be driven from human society and will make your home with the wild animals, you will feed on grass, as oxen do, you will be drenched by the dew of heaven; seven times will pass over you until you have learnt that the Most High rules over human sovereignty and confers it on whom he pleases [23] 'And the order, "Leave the stump and roots of the tree", means that your kingdom will be kept for you until you come to understand that Heaven rules all. [24] May it please the king to accept my advice: by upright actions break with your sins, break with your crimes by showing mercy to the poor, and so live long and peacefully.' [25] This all happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.
So, this isn't an end time prophecy. Nebuchadnezzar's dream was an immediate warning to the king himself. Surely, we must not go beyond the scriptures, saying more than what God put there--that would be false prophesy!"
