the kind of people Jesus would be hanging out with - but the kind of people that are neglected by the rest of the congregation
You got that right!
he was 23 years old.
he was depressed and took his own life.
no one had any idea he was contemplating something like this.
the kind of people Jesus would be hanging out with - but the kind of people that are neglected by the rest of the congregation

beth sarim, san diego.
you all know why this was built i think ?
looks a bit over the top to me all that expense and nobody to live in it, untill rutherford landed there after of course.
why would they build a building in San Diego?
funeral pickets to be met by 'angels'startclickprintexcludeendclickprintexcludehttp://www.cnn.com/2011/us/01/11/arizona.funeral.westboro/index.html by the cnn wire staff
january 11, 2011 9:04 a.m. esttucson, arizona (cnn) -- tucson just isn't that kind of town, says christin gilmer.. gilmer is referring to the actions of westboro baptist church of topeka, kansas, which has made its name protesting the funerals of people who died of aids, gay people, soldiers and even coretta scott king.. but when the church announced its intention to picket the funeral of a 9-year-old girl -- one of six people who died saturday during the attempted assassination of u.s. rep. gabrielle giffords -- gilmer and others put their feet down.. tucson is a "caring, loving, peaceful community," according to gilmer, who said two of the six people killed were friends.. "for something like this to happen in tucson was a really big shock to us all," she said.
"our nightmare happened when we saw westboro baptist church was going to picket the funerals.
I think existing laws covering "disorderly conduct" should be applied to Phelps and his ilk. In Arizona, it's covered by section 13-2904-A
A. A person commits disorderly conduct if, with intent to disturb the peace or quiet of a neighborhood, family or person, or with knowledge of doing so, such person:
...
3. Uses abusive or offensive language or gestures to any person present in a manner likely to provoke immediate physical retaliation by such person; or
...
B. ... Disorderly conduct under subsection A, paragraph 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 is a class 1 misdemeanor.
If he was arrested and tried, I doubt any jury would acquit him!
someone wrote something on another thread that i find puzzling.
how would jesus communicate with them?
do they hear an actual voice?
This one is too easy, he already told us what he will say--Matthew 25:41-47
Then he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink [43] I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me." [44] Then it will be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" [45] Then he will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me." [46] And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.'

More ideas along Nugget's theme:
It might turn out to be a psychological thriller or a crime and punishment story--you decide!
as i said in my earlier post, my nephew took his own life yesterday evening.
my sister is a die-hard jw and this religion is her comfort more than ever right now, so she accepts everything they throw at her.
the elders will meet this evening and decide whether they will allow a memorial service at the kh.
Mimimimi, I offer my condolences for your loss. I hope your family can arrange a respectful memorial service for your nephew, with or without the assistance of the Watchtower Society.
It's disgusting that the elders feel entitled to slander even the dead. By refusing to allow the service at the Kingdom Hall, they proclaim to the entire congregation that the deceased did something evil. Such a "loving arrangement"!
.
is forgiveness overrated?.
if i'm being completely honest with myself, there is a short list of folks who i haven't forgiven.
Forgiving others isn't just for the other person, it's also important for our own well-being. I can't explain it better than this, quoted from today's Dear Abby column:
"As a recovery counselor, I work with people to help them forgive those who had hurt them -- whether or not the offenders deserved to be forgiven. Why? Because resentment hurts the resenter far more than it hurts the offender. Grudges are cancers in our souls. Forgiveness isn't a gift we give to others, but a gift we give ourselves."
my fade is going well, but my mom knows full well what my thoughts are on the wts.
it seems that she feels comfortable just ignoring the situation in order to keep seeing her grandchildren.. the other day however we were talking about someone we know who is making it very difficult for her parents to see their grandchild.. then out of the blue, my mom turns in my direction and says, that if any of her kids try to deny her from seeing her grandchildren, she would take them to court and get a court order to force them to let her see them.. i know what the message was, and it was loud and clear.
she is letting me know that if i get disfellowshipped there's no way i can keep the kids away from her.
I think this is the article Snoozy was referring to. In short, laws vary from state to state, but grandparents are able to get court-ordered visitation in some cases.
"In some states, the laws say the court should decide based on what is in the best interest of the child. In other states, grandparents have to prove that the grandchild would be harmed if prevented from seeing the grandparents."
So it may not be as easy as JWip's mother seems to think it is, but there is a possibility. If she is serious about taking legal action, you will need professional legal help.
