IE9 has a "compatability mode" control that seems to work for most folks using IE. Otherwise, later versions of Firefox and Chrome seem to work pretty well here. With Firefox, you'll probably need to use "ctrl-C" and "ctrl-V" to cut and paste, because the right mouse button commands usally won't work with it on this site.
Welcome to the forum!
how many times did you hear that?
it wasn't until i read with disbelief no room for george's pitiful statement about being proud to be a jw did i start to think of a simple of way of discrediting the jws... it needed a simple scriptural phrase that causes them to shoot their own foot!.
so - how many different ways can you think of where jws have "gone beyond the things written"?.
Excellent, belbab!
Whether you take the literal meaning of Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24 and Luke 22:19-20 or believe that the Lord was speaking symbolically, what matters is acceptance: do you accept His gift of "the bread from heaven", the "blood of the covenant", and the promise of eternal life that comes with them? That is what the Lord asks us to do. Or will you refuse the gifts the Lord has freely offered to you, thus refusing eternal life? The Watchtower teaches that you, as a member of "the great crowd", must say no to the Lord's offer. Scripturally, Witnesses who follow the WT mandate to not partake will not enjoy "eternal life on a paradise earth", because scripturally they will "have no life in them".
i was reading wilbur lingle's book on the jw's and he had the following quote.
below i've pasted a screen pic from my copy of the february 1881 watchtower.
this quote is from charles russell and seems to be devastating to the wt believe in new light:.
Excellent find, that's a great first post. Welcome to the forum, mfriend!
here is one i am listening to:.

.
watchtower july 15, 2011 study edition page 12 paragraph 7 'following the crowd would not train our perceptive powers; nor, on the other hand, would a host of rigid rules in matters of conscience.
that is why, for example, jehovah's people are not given a list of films, books, and internet sites to avoid...worse, it would deprive us of the vital work of weighing bible principles carefully and prayerfully and then making decisions on the basis of those principles.
'.
That is why, for example, Jehovah's people are not given a list of films, books, and Internet sites to avoid
I thought it was because the list of permitted films, books and internet sites was so much easier to remember!
whatever else you may think about jehovah's witnesses, what they think about their own "trained christian conscience" is an absolute.. the governing body feeds them what they should think and say and do; they obey.. conversely, what they must not think and say or do must be obeyed absolutely as well.
agreed?.
by internalizing these instructions, directions and taboos all jehovah's witnesses become tuned in to the collective authority of jehovah's "arrangement.".
"Conscience Matter" is a euphemism for Watchtower policies requiring "plausible deniability" to avoid legal repercussions. "Coercion Matter" is a more apt term, insofar as the rank and file are concerned.
this is for those of you who are familiar with my periodic rants about being married to a jehovah's witness.
you won't be seeing any more of them.. my wife and i were up before dawn on friday and spent the entire day on our boat, trolling 10 miles from shore and talking.
we talked about our lives together, the ground we've covered in the 40 years since we met as university freshmen.
Have a good weekend on the water. What can I say except to keep doing what you're doing!
would you express an opinion to that person studying with the witnesses or would you keep quiet?.
if you did say something, what would it be?.
I'd tell them about a gentleman in town who went to the Kingdom Hall. I'd describe the successful small business he ran, drop names of people who patronized his shop, even though it's halfway accross the country, because he did such fine work. But no, you won't see him at the meetings, because the Watchtower doesn't allow blood transfusions, and he's dead now because he listened to them!
Most non-Witnesses know little about the Watchtower blood dogma, nor have they seriously pondered its consequences. Do them a favor, tell them about it before they swallow the bait!
greetings, all packers and movers:.
i'm not inexperienced in the above but would appreciate your suggestions and experiences.
google, of course, has been a tremendous help.
Anne has good advice. For packing anything fragile, be sure the box is in perfect condition (new if possible)--wrap or pad each piece separately--make sure nothing is near any surface of the box, bottom sides or top (at least 2" away, according to UPS)--add extra padding to fill left-over spaces, so that nothing can shift or rattle around inside--seal the box with proper packaging tape, closing up the entire seam to use the strength of all the material in the top flaps (not masking tape, not just tucking in the flaps). The carefully set the boxes aside, to be loaded last in the safest possible place where nothing can fall on them, or crush them, and where they won't bounce around (buckled in to the back seat of the car, if there's room). If it must go with other items on a truck, use double boxing: fully pack the fragile items into a box, then pad and pack that box inside a larger one.
UPS, FedEx etc. have packing guidelines--which come from huge amounts of experience. Use their experience to your advantage.
Good luck with the move, CoCo!
