If you cannot produce a different, more plausible, and scripturally accurate meaning of Jesus' words, how can you say for sure that JW's explanation of it is wrong?
Start by reading the passages before and after that one(*). They are all about being prepared, about not knowing the day and time. Now read the "faithful servant" passage, staying mindful of that context. What is that passage about? Is it an abrupt change in topic to identify a ruler of the faithful, immediately followed by a return to the previous topic? Or is it consistent with the other passsages in Matthew 24 and 25, a warning to always be ready because you never know when the time--your time--will come?
The Watchtower interpretation only makes sense in isolation. It does not fit when the passage is read in context.
(*) Passage Topics, Matthew 24:3 through 25:46- The Beginning of Calamities
- The Great Tribulation
- The Coming of the Son of Man
- Lesson of the Fig Tree
- Unknown Day and Hour
- As It Was in the Days of Noah
- One Taken, One Left Behind
- Hour When the Thief Comes
- Faithful or Unfaithful Servant
- Ten Virgins and Oil for Their Lamps
- Parable of the Talents
- The Judgement of Nations

This board is full of broken and hurt'n people
Yes, it is. Please treat them with kindness and respect!
Stranger ones have come by here before they flew away.
I will not condemn you nor yet would I deny,
I would ask the same of you, but failing, will not die.
Take up your china doll, take up your china doll,
Its only fractured and just a little nervous from the fall. -

How big of a deal is Kingdom Hall Weddings ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen inhas you all know i was engaged to another lady before i married my wife, but part of the reason my ex and i broke up was because we couldn't get a kingdom hall wedding.
to make a long story short why is it such a big deal ?.

... is also to provide a good witness for nonJWs in attendance
That works no more than once (having been to a half-dozen or so KH weddings as my ex's UBM, I speak from personal experience). Outsiders catch on very quickly that the "wedding talk," rather than being lovingly composed based on a close relationship with the bride and groom, follows a standard script. By the time the last of my ex-in-laws was married, I could tell if the Elder/MS goofed and missed a part.

How to Shit in the Woods
by Wonderment in"how to shit in the woods" ... this is actually a book title sold by the thousands, no, by the millions.
yep, over 2.5 million copies of the book have been sold, and the author is a woman (kathleen meyer).. now, if you are a man, do you feel comfortable with a woman telling you "how to shit in the woods"?
this book is in its third edition, in 8 languages to boot.

Yes, it's real book with real, practical advice. I have a copy.
As for what to do with the used paper, when fire regulations allow I strike a match and burn it right there in the hole; after it goes out refill the hole buring the ashes. The real problem is above tree line, where there's little to no dirt covering the rock. It's hard to dig a proper cat-hole in granite. Be careful when picking up loose rocks, there may be a surprise underneath.
And never wipe with poison oak, no matter how deperate you are!

I remember watching it, the tension of the landing, the thrill of the first step off the ladder, the "will it fire" anxiety before they lifted off for the return trip.
RIP Neil Armstrong, soft-spoken explorer and inspiring hero!

I Believe Catholicism And Its Trappings Are Silly, Strange & Weird!!!
by minimus inmy italian friend loves going to the "feasts" that occur in italy, boston or nyc.
these feasts feature a "saint" with dollar bills pinned around her and they parade the saint in a long procession and chant "viva (whomever)".
they are quite serious about this and are proud to talk about the past generations of observers who appreciated the events.

Weren't Facists/Nazis and Communits enemies? Didn't the Catholics lend support toe the National Socialists?
History shows that to be a false comparison. Hitler treated both the Kremlin and the Vatican with the same duplicity he used against everyone else (except, perhaps, Mussolini and Tojo). Saying that the Soviets were blameless while the Vatican was culpable is shameless double-talk.
Stalin assisted Hitler with the invasion of Poland. Germany took over the western part, the Soviets took the east. Stalin and Hitler remained military allies until Hitler unleashed Operation Barbarossa, his largest attack of the war, against his former supporter. Though no doubt suspicious of each other, Germany and the USSR were not enemies until the German invasion.
The Reichskonkordat Pius XI agreed to with Germany in 1933 was one of twenty-one such agreements promoting religious liberty. It was soon clear that Hitler had no intention of honoring it. Pius XI effectively rescinded the concordat in 1937 by issuing Mit Brenneger Sorge:
... We shall continue without failing, to stand before the rulers of your people as the defender of violated rights, and in obedience to Our Conscience and Our pastoral mission, whether We be successful or not, to oppose the policy which seeks, by open or secret means, to strangle rights guaranteed by a treaty ...
... Whoever exalts race, or the people, or the State, or a particular form of State, or the depositories of power, or any other fundamental value of the human community - however necessary and honorable be their function in worldly things - whoever raises these notions above their standard value and divinizes them to an idolatrous level, distorts and perverts an order of the world planned and created by God; he is far from the true faith in God and from the concept of life which that faith upholds ...
Then in September 1938 Pius XI said:
No, no, I say to you it is impossible for a Christian to take part in anti-Semitism. It is inadmissible. Through Christ and in Christ we are the spiritual progeny of Abraham. Spiritually, we [Christians] are all Semites.
This was said by a religious leader, who commanded no army and no navy. About two weeks later, the leader of a world-wide empire defended by a strong army, navy and air corps agreed to give Hitler the Sudetenland, territory belonging to a country with no role in negotiating that concession.
So, who really played the dupe for herr Shiklgruber?

It reminds me of a JC. Armstrong said he wasn't going to play their rigged game any longer, so the USADA declares him guilty without proof or due process and declares him "disfellowshiped". Another group of power-mad petty tyrants abuses the process until they get their own way!
