i know some of you are in the field and many others are hobbyists and enthusiasts.. aside from a tablet/smart phone os, what were they thinking?.

Windows 8 makes it harder to get any real work done, and wastes your memory space and network bandwidth to support all the "BLING" garbage they shoveled in the system. IMO, it's the "DOS 4" of Windows: an upgrade nobody asked for and adds no real value. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" is a phrase seldom heard in Redmond.

we seem to get a regular number of people whinging about 'what do i do with my jw girlfriend/boyfriend' sort of heartache.

i remember back in the day when i was a devout jw in the 90s elders would go to the hospital to try and see if a person took a blood transfusion.
i remember my cousin was having surgery after a severe car accident and if he did not take blood the doctor said he would have died.
the elder came to the hospital and badgered my cousin's wife until she told him my cousin did get some blood.
There's little practical difference. Whether you quit or they fire you, you will be "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses", shunned, and the new topic for the congregation gossips. If you ever want to return, you will be treated like dirt until you have been deemed to have proven your repentance.

i overheard this argument re the new tract campaign.
one elder told a publisher, to hide the tract in the mailbox if the home owner wasn't home.
the publisher was used to folding the tip of the tract, and just left a tip showing.
What a weird law. It's only a mailbox.
Follow the power and the money, then there's nothing weird about it. It's partly about theft control, mostly about protecting the post office's legal monopoly. The WTBTS has to leave their offerings out on the door steps, just as FedEx and UPS must do.

Effective evangelization begins with the example of your life, not with the words you speak, and especially not by talking at somebody instead of with them. There is a difference between preaching the Gospel and giving a hard sell presentation; that is the point Pope Francis is making, and that is why the Watchtower's approach produces more enemies than it does converts.

If you are in an apartment, you are likely to share a neighbor's infestation.
