Court nixes Jehovahs Witness suit against doctors for saving her life
by behemot ina new york court has dismissed a suit by a jehovahs witness who sued doctors for giving her a blood transfusion that saved her life.
nancy digeronimo sued her doctor and staten island university hospital for medical malpractice alleging the transfusions of another persons blood conflicted with her religious beliefs, reports the staten island advance newspaper.. the 5-year-old case against dr. allen fuchs and university hospital, was dismissed with the court finding the transfusion didnt deviate from accepted standards of care and that digeronimo had failed to show the infusion of blood had hurt her.. digeronimo, then 34, was released from the hospital on april 9, 2004, five days after giving birth.. the plaintiffs argument, taken to its logical conclusion, is that the doctor should have allowed her to die rather than give her an allogenic blood transfusion, state supreme court justice joseph j. maltese wrote in a decision handed down thursday.
since the plaintiffs transfusion saved her life, this action is analogous to one for wrongful life against the doctor.

Paradise Earth. What will it be like?
by punkofnice inparadise earth!!
if the wtb$ gb were right (work with me here.
i don't believe they even know how to tie their own shoe laces let alone be correct about this), what would life in a paradise earth be like?.

@Rabbit... I was thinking of that one too, but don't remember enough details to find and link to it.

QUESTION: What would happen if you fell off a waterfall? Would you live?
QUESTION: what if a branch fell out of a tree (widow maker) and hit you. Would you live?
Answer: Such events are Jehovah's way of purging unclean elements from the New System. In the new Paradise Earth, Jehovah is once again making his will known by direct physical action, just as he did in the days of Lot. Don't mourn the evil apostates whom Jehovah chooses to annihilate, evidently they are spiritually weak, trying to return to the wicked ways of Babylon the Great. Whatever happens to them, happens because they fail to strengthen their dedication to our Kingom Ministry. Stand fast and heed the theocratic food distributed at the proper time by the Annointed Class in these last days of the Thousand Year Reign. This is no time to relax; time is short until all the prophecies will be fulfilled!
That's what Paradise Earth will be like!

Her husband, who had authority as her health-care proxy, signed the form on his wife's behalf, said court records.
because she was already pregnant when she first saw Dr. Fuchs in September 2003 she wasn't a candidate to donate her own blood for storage
Those documents said there was no dispute that Ms. DiGeronimo needed the transfusion to live.
Why did this case take years in court? There was legitimate consent. It was necessary, medically appropriate treatment.
I suspect this suit was filed, at least in part, as a CYA action to avoid being DF'ed: "It was the doctor's fault--I didn't want it, but he did it anyway!"
I hope the doctor and hospital won a judgement for attorney's fees and court costs. It is a travesty that this suit was ever filed.

Dispelling JW Myths: Faithful and Discreet Slave
by AuldSoul inmatthew 24:45-51 who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings.. .

I consider this part of Matthew's gospel to be one of the series of related teachings in chapters 24 and 25. The other passages (Days of Noah--Mt 24:37-39, one taken and one left--MT24:30-42, the coming of the thief--Mt 24:43-44, the Faithful Servant--MT 24:45-51, the virgins and the lamps--MT 25:1-13, parable of the talents [again discussing a "wise servant"]--MT25:14-30) are on the topic "be faithful, do what is right, because you never know when the time will come." These passages aren't about God appointing somebody else to be "the faithful servant" to rule over us, they are telling us--each and every one of us-- to be like the wise servant.
We may think you have time to make up for it before the master arrives, but we probably won't. The day of reckoning is coming when we least expect it, and in all likelihood that will be long before The Last Day. So we'd better start behaving as if there is no tomorrow, because for any one of us there just might not be a tomorrow.
That makes a lot more sense than contorting one of these passages into a prophecy about a group of middle-aged men living 19 or 20 centuries later!

I'm glad the surgery went well. So, you went to a JWD apostate birthday party after your wife went to the DC while you were in surgery? That sounds like payback time to me (hee hee)! I hope you had a really uplifting time at the party!

Told my Parents about me joining the Military.
by lucky1rish inso, i'm back, and many of you wanted me to post the unfolding drama that is my life at the moment.. last week i came out and told my father that i was in the navy, and was going to be trying out for aviation search air rescue.
it's an extensive rate, and one that has a 40% failure rate among those who qualify.
so needless to say, i do nothing but run and swim.. anyways, the reaction was what i expected.

Did you ask your mother exactly who is "giving up their family" here?
Thank you for your service, seaman lucky1rish. Because of the Watchtower attidudes you must deal with, you must sacrifice more than many others to offer it.
