I am doing research on this and have found many, many references. Except one. Wasn't there an article from the WTBS that speaks of Organ Transplanting as 'on of our modern marvels of this time'? It would be before they changed their minds and called it cannabalism (prior to 1967). Does anyone know what I'm referring to? Thanks.

Is it disrespectful to call GOD by his name JEHOVAH?
by foolsparadise ini have been thinking about this alot recently.
calling our god the creator by his first name jehovah takes alot of nerve.
my 10 year oll son doesnt walk around calling me by my first name.

How can it be disrespectful??Jehovah isn`t his name, nobody knows the true pronunciation.
That is exactly what I was going to say. Oh, and someone made the comment that I simply cannot get out of my head.....'if your name is Bob, and people insist on calling you Flob and forcing everyone else to call you Flob, wouldn't that piss you off?' That wasn't the exact comment, but it's what I got from it.
Jehovah is not the way to pronounce God's name. Nobody knows how. And no, I do not call my dad by his first name...in fact, I got quite a few spankings for doing so as a child.

Question about shunning from someone who has never been a JW....
by whyizit ini wondered, since the jws claim that jesus is their teacher, what evidence do they have of jesus shunning "bad associations"?
it seems to me, from reading the bible, that the religious people of his day really gave him a hard time, because he actually spent the majority of his time with "bad associates", rather than shunning them.
thomas, though he followed jesus, wasn't totally convinced.

God & Santa
by AwSnap injust like people choose to believe in santa claus and the easter bunny, knowing they're not real but it's fun to believe, is there anything wrong with going to church and believing in the christian god when deep down you know its not real either?
that's where i'm at these days.
how do you feel?.

Carla, what is the summary of Galations and Romans that surprises jw's? I would strongly suggest reading a Bible other than the NWT...someone turned me onto the New International Version and it seems interesting. I'm not sure I believe it, but just the fact that the false word "jehovah" isn't in it is definitely a plus.

Learning the "Truth" Is not true is like...................
by foolsparadise inafter 33 years of being mind controlled at 5 meetings a week, field service meetings, special day assembly, curcuit assembly, district assembly, finding out "the truth" is just a big hoax is like getting punched in the stomach-uppercut in the jaw-being kicked in the balls from behind and then having the rug ripped out from under you and smashing your head on the ground.
what was it like for everyone else?.

I felt a bit alone because nobody (every jw surrounding me) believed I was correct. And, of course, those who did feel I was right were 'obviously on Satan's side'...but wait! No, they're not!
It took a LOT of re-conditioning on my brain through self realization. I had to learn, once again, that the initial thought that popped into my head was wrong (if it was prejudice or judgmental). While being a jw, they also trained my mind to believe our first inclinations are wrong. Except it was THEM who were wrong, not me.
It took me a very long time, with depression and anxiety holding the reigns for a couple years. Yet I do not regret the decision I made. Years have passed, and I do not have the depression any longer. And I have many friends who practice unconditional love.

The origins of the WTS are clearly "ridiculous" yet Witnesses are always examining the "origin" of something, birthdays, holidays, everything and finding a way to say we shouldnt do it
This reasoning just blows me away...I have never, ever, EVER considered this but it is so profound and true. While some may consider me a newbie, I have been out of the jw's for a very long time. I am agnostic at this point, but I do love this scripture:
5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
New International Version (NIV) (Romans 14: 5,6) Quit judging, folks! That's the goal.
