Personally, I cannot associate my beliefs with those who are atheists. I think some are the coolest people around, but our views are simply different. There have been too many things that have happened in my life....too many times where I "should've" died as a result of my negative ways. I cannot help but believe there is 'more out there'...someone(s) looking out for me. But when I first was exiting the jw faith, I had a paranoia...a "what else IS THERE!?" mentality? Now, many years later, I wonder, but it does not consume me. The most important thing for me is simply to give thanks. If there is someone(s) so much more powerful than myself, surely they understand where I am coming from. Right? Right. I do not stress out over it, nor am I searching like crazy. I simply realize I do not have all the anwers, yet I am so thankful. And I give thanks. "THEY" know how thankful I am. Could it all be in my imagination? Sure. But it's what I believe. Same as atheists. Same as Christians. We have no proof. Simple as that.

Are you searching?
by wantstoleave inwhen i expressed my doubts about my beliefs to my parents the other day, my mom said that 'no matter what people do, they are always searching for something.
if it's not this religion, which one will you go to?'.
she gave the example that practically since time began, people have been clinging to hope in some form or another, namely religion.

Organ Transplants...HELP!
by AwSnap ini am doing research on this and have found many, many references.
wasn't there an article from the wtbs that speaks of organ transplanting as 'on of our modern marvels of this time'?
it would be before they changed their minds and called it cannabalism (prior to 1967).

Yes, I agree with you TD. I printed every reference jwfacts.com stated. And I handed it to the 2 witnesses who visited with me. There were approximately 6 references. The 1st one showed how the witnesses thought organ transplants were completely fine. The next 3 showed that organ transplant = Cannabalism. The last 2 showed how it's strictly up to one's own conscience (and even condoned it) & noone should be judged by others since there is no scriptural backing against it. One of the witnesses read it with a bit of contempt, while the other was literally STARING at the info, commenting how crazy it was that 'they' used to call it cannabalism.

Well, I'll be darned. Is there anywhere "reliable" that I could get this from? I believe you both, but the witnesses I know wouldn't look at it unless its from a legit source. You know what I mean?

Wow, I think that's it! And jwfacts...I used your website to print out everything else. Thank you.
Although, I find it weird that no scriptures were quoted throughout, but only at the end. ? Are you sure that's actually from an Awake?

I hear you, Blue. I will definitely keep that point in mind if the subject is raised again (by them OR me)

Well, that is what I thought. When I mentioned it, I was told "No, we have never heard of it that way!"...and then I was nervous that only *apostates* use that term and I was giving myself away. But I could have sworn hearing it informally numerous times.

I've been told that the witnesses have NEVER referred to it as "old light" or "new light", but rather refer to it as "the light getting brighter" only. Is this true?

JW's Defend 607 BCE Teaching!
by tryingtoexit inmy father (who's an elder) just sent me this link...and i'd like to get yall opinions on it before i call him back:.
apostates and other opposers argue that jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 bce, but in 587 bce, and provide what they claim is archaeological evidence to support this.
if 607 bce is wrong, then the seven times prophecy ending in 1914 ce would be wrong also.. .

Fantastic, TD, I think that's what I'm thinking of. Coffee, I'm so sorry...I was searching jwfacts.com earlier today and saw your heartbreaking story. I've already had the "discussion" with 2 witnesses this afternoon, but I will try and get a copy of that 49' Awake article somehow. I was furious with the 2 responses I received. The first was, "well, that's why it's best to look up the most current information because that's up to date." And "Let's say someone from the 60's died as a result of refusing an organ transplant. What's most important to Jehovah is that they followed the faithful and discreet slave and they have the hope of being resurrected." My main question to them was put this way: "Well, I am curious since I don't have a great knowledge of the Bible....did the congregation leaders of the Bible make decisions for their congregations and then change their rules? and then change them back? Obviously, I am not speaking of the individuals because I know everybody is imperfect. I am speaking of the leaders making decisions for the whole congregation. Maybe you can find out for me?"
So that was that. We'll see if they ever come to speak with me again.

Oh thank you! Nelly & Blues, I've just printed those articles (and THEN SOME!). So I guess you've never seen the article where it talks about organ transplants being a modern marvel (speaking about it in a good light)? I remember seeing it. But now I can't find it anywhere.
