"You have instant friends wherever you go"
by AwSnap inremember hearing that at the meetings?
i find it ironic that the same can be said for ex-jw's.

I have made instant friends from this board, and have met and liked most (but not SixofNine....hehehe. Just kidding Six!) . Then on FB, an ex-jw friend asked me to become friends with a newly 'out' jw, to which I responded OF COURSE! Now she and I are beginning a new friendship.
It's nice that jw's aren't the only ones who can be instant friends with their own kind.

Shunning is so stupid
by AwSnap ini cannot seem to shake the visual image i have from about 5 days ago.
i went over to my mom's house, and apparently she didn't mention it to my younger sister (who lives in their downstairs apartment).
she and her baby were visiting with my mom, and when she saw me walking up the side walk, she grabbed her toddler up in her arms and i saw her hauling ass down the stairs....the toddler didn't understand why she was just snatched up and hauled away and started screaming.

Thanks LeavingWT. the weird thing is that she knows that I don't believe in the way that works. So she KNOWS that her shunning will only push me further away. I know she truly believes it's what she should do....but it's drivin' me nutso

on loan from the annointed, lol, iclone
Aquagirl and EmptyInside, while I believe my sis's husband fits that criteria, I think my sister is just hanging on by a string. She's controlled by her husband, and she's got depression that she believes is just from living in Satan's world. I pray that one day it'll finally click with her.
I keep going over and over in my head. I *am* her older sister, and I've pushed my limits somewhat with the things I've said to her (not jw-related, just being a protective older sister). But then I realize, in most circumstances, this alone does not make someone shun their sibling. And honestly, wasn't that bad.
Sebastious, I know all about the groups . I've got "jdubs" "important jdubs" "family" "close friends" "jwn". FB has done so many changes, I haven't looked up lately whom is in which group. I don't wanna screw up. I already accidentally forgot to exclude the "jdubs" from my latest Halloween album. Thanks GAWD none of my family saw it, and I fixed it withing 2 days.
Quandry, no, I didn't yell "hey sis" or anything to her. I'm not ashamed by any means....just a little discouraged. I've gone threw the rage. I'm in between sadness and acceptance.
Talesin, I see you've been here longer than me. My apologies for stealing the WW......but us WW gotta stick together

Thanks for the support.
I have a 5 month old, and my sister has never asked how she is doing and only met her briefly when my father babysat for an hour for me (I had already left to run errands). Now she is 5 months pregnant and I JUST FOUND OUT from the receptionist at my office landlord's office. How's THAT for shitty. Actually, I knew she was pregnant long before, but only because I'd logged into my mom's FB acct without her knowledge. The non-jw receptionist (I don't even know the woman's name) is the first person who officially told me.

I couldn't help but just shake my head. Nobody else in my family is shunning me. I'm not df'd. However, about 2 years ago, sis and I had a discussion about why I don't believe in the jw's anymore. Since then, she's been shunning me. Her husband has told people I gave her apostate literature. I *did* give her some things I typed up....however, it ALL had WT and jw references. Nothing was blatently apostate. I wasn't trying to be sneaky.
It's not fair that we ("apostates") are not allowed to say why we don't believe anymore. I wanted to post something on my facebook about this, but I have both non-jw's and current jw's on there. Don't wanna start a fight. It 's just frustrating.
Thanks for listening.

I *WAS* outed on here. Thankfully, it was by someone who I know is pretty much out as well. He never told me his screen name....and then one day, I outed him!!!
I always think that I don't care if someone realizes who I am on here. But I also like to keep my family in contact with me, and would hate to lose them because of some posts I made here.

is it moral and or rational to teach children and adults that Santa is real?
by mankkeli in1) yes it is moral and rational.

3) yes it is rational.

A child's life is all about fantasy, in my opinion. I will let my baby believe Santa is real, unless she asks. Then I would tell her the truth, but also let her know that it's okay to pretend he's real. Why limit it to Santa? Same goes for Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Barney, Dora, etc..... let 'em be kids. Just my 2 cents

What Stupid Things Were You Counseled For?
by minimus ini've always been told that i have a very good personality, that i'm humorous, etc.. one elder called me over and said that i was "smiling too much".
the other elders talked to the elder who counseled me and he came back to say that i should be like i was .

DesirousOfChange, no, I am not DF'd or DA'd. Officially. I have no idea how neither has happened. Everyone (including a couple elders besides my dad) knows that I will never go back to being a witness. My baptism at age 14 was such a mistake. But it's not been made official. My BIL feels like I'm getting away with something (which, in a way, he's right....but I'm not playing by their rules. So really....Im just trying to live life!).
Six, that was soooooo wrong. LOL. You must've seen my FB post a few days ago (ps: my dog already tried to attack him once....scared the bejeezus outta him and gave me a huuuuge smile because he was being an idiot at that time too)
