Just Thought I'd Share..

we have some close, non-jw extended family staying with us....they drove 700 miles to get here.

they will be here for a week....so far it's been about 5 days and my jw sibling has seen them for one hour.

my sibling has been doing field service, family study, there's a meeting tonight, and family worship night.

Well, the visit is over...they went home yesterday

Just wanted to mention: we had an outting with my cousin, aunt, me, my sibling and spouse & their baby. During our excursion through a museum ,there was a point where some photographers take your picture and then at the end of the tour you can choose whether you want to purchase it or not. My cousin and I LOVED the picture & we purchased enough for everybody in it. I asked my sibling's spouse if they wanted a copy...I worried they wouldn't since there was a Christmas tree on each side of our group. I said, "I was just thinking that if you buy a frame small enough, it'll take the Christmas trees right out of the picture." Before my sentence was even finished, *spouse* said "Of course we want the picture! I don't care if there's Christmas trees in it! I have NO problem with trees with lights in them!"

So as we were walking away from our lunch table, I said quietly enough just so *spouse* could hear: "So, if I were to tell you that we have a beautiful tree with lights up in OUR home, would you say the same thing?" He looked me dead in the eye with a very serious face and said "I DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT."......and walked away from me. WHAT A HYPOCRITE!!!

on pages 6-9 of the book she talks a bit about abuse and then has a short quiz which i will post.. .

what i would like to try is to see how well the issue of toxic parents fits a toxic religion.

Hi Palmtree . I'm glad I looked this up....my books have already been sent. Can't wait to get them! I'm slowly coming to terms that it's time to cut my parents out of my life until they quit acting like 6 year olds. It breaks my heart , especially since they're not spring chickens anymore and the chance of them dying is not out of the question. I guess when I sit them down to inform them that the reverse"shunning" has begun, I will make sure they understand that I love them with all my heart. The only reason I am doing this is because my health is involved....I've always been very sensitive. If I feel stressed or sad or hurt, I get the worst tummyaches, neckaches, headaches. Even if I'm having a great day and happy moments, the stress of others still affects me and I still get sick.

I just typed in "toxic" in the search box.... I just ordered the "toxic Parents" book & about 6 other books as well. I really appreciate the people who cover serious issues here (but many times I also appreciate the goofballs on here too )

UN scandal

lately i did a lot of reading regarding the un scandal, the org being a ngo for 10 years.

i tried to read both sides, the comments on jwfacts.com, as well as the defense at jehovahsjudgment.co.uk.. and then the endless discussion on topix.com between thirdwitness and alanf and others.. while i am sure, the way the org handled the whole situation, especially after the article in the guardian, was plain wrong, instead of openly confessing a mistake, it was done secretely and only after inquiry, and made it look like a cover-up.. .

however, considering the whole issue, i think it comes down to one question:.

We have some close, NoN-jw extended family staying with us....they drove 700 miles to get here. They will be here for a week....so far it's been about 5 days and my jw sibling has seen them for ONE HOUR. My sibling has been doing field service, family study, there's a meeting tonight, and family worship night. My parents have been fighting constantly since my aunt arrived (she's been staying with my parents). I am really mad at them...its just so rude! And I am pretty sure my aunt is planning on confronting them (my parents) about their constant, hatred filled bickering, and will be throwing in there that 'part of the reason she will NEVER become a jw is due to their poor example they set'. Good. They deserve it. . Oh, did I mention that my father is an elder?

Organ Transplants, Rape, Paganism

a family member from my extended family is staying with me for the holidays; we had a very interesting conversation.. ....i've never had such an in-depth conversation with somebody who has never been a witness (j-dub as he likes to call them).

i kept feeling a little weird because certainly i can go on and on and on and on about it, but i rarely do.

i showed him my findings on organ transplants, rape rule changing, we talked about how frusterating it is that the jdubs will look at all the origins and history of everything and use that as an excuse not to celebrate holidys, etc....yet they refuse and are ignorant to their own true history.

I stand corrected, Hubert. I just looked up "organ transplants" and the articles popped up. I just don't think any jw's would even think to type in that subject unless someone blatently brings it to their attention.

Iknowall, I agree. They seem to have their bases covered.
