  the watchtower has been known for over 130 years as a great scriptural cherry-picker.

  they pick out disparate unrelated verses and combine them to support the wackiest of wacky doctrines.. on the other hand there are many scriptures they almost never address, whether because they contradict wt doctrine or because they simply don't have a clue what they mean or how to spin them to the wt advantage.. one of these is revelation 19:1 that mentions a "great crowd" "in heaven.

  PS- since Jesus said "God IS spirit"- you are correct! However, since the SCRIPTURES, Christ and angels refer to IT as the POWER of God, the holy spirit is God IN ACTION!

  Well, Zagor- that is SAD. Too bad you "kept your eyes on the things below" (Men) rather than the "Things Above"( God). People will ALWAYS let you down, He won't... unless you leave Him.

  Yes, the fact is that without faith (wether its real, or a fantasy)- all you have to look forward to is growing old and shrivelled up, and dying within a few years.

  INSTINCTIVELY we ALL know there IS something more!

  Mary- what was your question? That every Christian will go to heaven?

  JWalker- That we don't need works or deeds to be Christian?

  PS- Jesus himself uses the holy ("clean, pure") spirit ("breath, wind") to carry out his God's will, so even tho is literally IS "the POWER" of God, as Gabriel described it to Mary, and as God HIMSELF called it "IT", Jesus was thinking ONLY of the One who was working and communicating THROUGH it- Jehovah.

  Getting into Arguments with JW's...

  i'm trying to fade away, but i sometimes find myself in discussions or arguments with jw family/friends/white haired virgin elders.

  now, i usually have them beat on things but i'm not very experienced, so i was thinking if you guys could help me put together a list of completely unanswerable questions to pose to my jw friends/family/elders so they can stop bugging me.

  if i keep asking them questions they simply cannot answer, then they might leave them alone.

  First, if the Bible means nothing to you stop pretending- and fade. Disappear!\

  If it DOES, do some real research into it. For example, this clown's accusation above. Since they need excuses to justify their lack of faith, the scripture mean little to them;

  Jehovah said Jerusalem would be desolate 70 years.

  Babylon fell in 539 BC, the jews were released 2 years later.

  Counting back 70 years....BINGO! You get the fall of Jerusalem at 607 BC.

  Of course, they would rather side with the 'educated guesses' of historians, rather the the people WHO WERE THERE, as recorded in the Bible...

  on what basis do you make the claim that the leadership of the jw's, aka governing body, is the organization god is and has been working through continuously since 1919?.

  Opinion on what the prophecies mean is Trivial Pursuit/

  What a group teaches about God and Christ, as well as their Purpose is paramount!
