  strange title, huh?.

  the point is that i wasn't "burned" in some incredible way by wts and i don't carry a huge chip on my shoulder from some incredible injustice from wts or the local elders.. i say this because some people have constantly accused me of being really screwed over by my experience because of my comments on others' threads.

  i explained myself there for my reasons, but wanted to repeat what those reasons are here in my own thread.. i explained on some post somewhere that i had felt that i experienced "divine intervention" in my life at one time and that same intervention ended my suicide attempt.

  The title describes my situation, I just woke up and wanted out. And it is personal for those who have family still inside, so I can understand the resentment and anger some on this board have toward the WT.

  Would being seen volunteering for the ACLU be cause for a JC?

  i'm going to be doing some volunteering for a local branch of the aclu at an art festival tomorrow.

  i'll be talking to people about the work of the aclu, providing brochures, etc.

  i will have on an aclu shirt- there is a possibility that there may even be a flag on it .

  Wow, I thought this was fictitious group in a South Park skit. The ACLU will advocate for ANYONE, they get the side eye from me.

  Serenity, I don't know the WT answer to your question. The WT uses them, i don't see your volunteering with them being an issue. Maybe someone can search the WT CD for articles, i don't have mine handy.

  AIW - The people that are attracted to the idea that Jehovah's Witnesses protect pedophiles are many times those that have been disfellowshipped for adultery and other reasons that would love to indict Jehovah's Witnesses of harboring pedophiles because of the mess they've made of their own life and/or family.

  Again placing blame the pedo problem on ex-dubs instead of WT policy.

  AIW - Jehovah's Witnesses don't tolerate sexual immorality but they tolerate sexual assault?

  The same policy that allows WT to DF those who break their rules on sexual morality is the very same rule that allows molestors to proliferate within the congregation - the two witness rule.

  AIW - It's ex-Jehovah's Witnesses that do the slandering. The associated press is mainly interested in public attention. If it sells, journalistic integrity and the good faith of others is conditional

  So now your implying that the media and ex-JW's are responsible for the molesters among the dubs. What little credibility you had is shot.

  You accept as fact that the LDS church kept secret files of it's molesters, yet disregard first-hand accounts of JW's having the same?!?

  You accept as fact a Boy Scout master was able to use his trusted position to sexually assault boys, yet can't fathom how a MS/Elder could do the same?!?

  You accept that the Catholics, Boy Scouts and LDS church are responsible for their molesters but the JW's are not.

  If the WT was not culpable, why did they settle with the victims?

  PT, Mary and Outlaw beat me to the punch; she's arguing with the attorney who represented the victims. Choosing to accept information from a tv show over someone with first-hand knowledge. Interestingly, this tv show testimony AIW posted doesn't prove her points or answers the questions posed by Kim Norris.

  AIW is always asking for first-hand accounts or proof but when presented with it, falls back on cut & paste gibberish for rebuttal.

  its a "worldly" holiday and both my daughter and i are at home, not in service.

  i got up, made us breakfast, (sausage and eggs) and now i'm playing on jw net.. on the downside, my wife and son are out in service and i have to sit down and put together my service groups time and turn that in to the secretary... (although my son didnt want to go.. he complained "cant we just have a chill day".. i was going to let him stay home but he changed his mind to go see a friend who said he was also going out...).

  all you active jw's... did you or are you going out..or are you ditching?.

  OTWO, that was a powerful encounter one that they will never forget. It will eat away at them until they look up some information on it.

  Quandry -Perhaps at the summer convention, they just weren't clear enough on the df issue. How do some just "not get it?"

  Does this man truly believe that it is not true that disfellowshipping equals shunning?

  I was thinking this as well. For many dubs, the DF arrangement is a 'loving provision' from jehovah. Shunning is a hateful dictate practiced by false religion. They don't think that they are one in the same even though their new rule book and countless examples at the latest assemblies tell otherwise.

  Most dubs are inconsistent in shunning with their DF family members.
