if you were raised in a home with a jw parent and a non-jw parent: a few questions.. i am going to be addressing the international cultic studies association (icsa) in july at the conference in montreal.

my focus is on 3 groups.

the third group consists of people people who grew up in homes where one parent was a jw and the other wasn't.

Was your non-JW parent ever a JW? no
Who was responsible for your religious upbringing? The JW or the non-JW? the JW
Did they argue about it? No..the non-JW was passive & didn't see the harm in the religion
Were you forced to go? Yes
Did the non-JW parent have any real say in how the family celebrated holidays? NO
Over all what impact did this split household have on your childhood and even later in life? Loss of respect for the non-jw for not showing any interest in the religious aspect of my upbringing. The religion led to my parents divorce.
What would you want therapists to know about your situation? WBTS divides families.
Any other thoughts? I'll come back...

Is the WTS "refinancing" KH loans?

my mom's kh was built last year with a loan from wts.

she was talking about a letter to all congregations with loans from wts.

the letter was asking the publishers how much they can pay towards a refinance.

I was in the hospital

Lots of JWs out at tables this morning!

so, i actually stopped at two different tables that i saw.

the first was 2 elderly men - they were so sweet and open to discuss.

i brought up the topic of the divine name and why the wt inserted it into the nt with no evidence from greek manuscripts.

I made it!! I'm just so freaking happy!!!

as some of you know, i started college 5 years ago for the first time at age 27. i had been out of the "truth" for 9 years at that time, but had just broken free of the mentality.

well, on saturday i walked across the stage with the 130th graduating class at rocky mountain college!.

after 5 years of working several jobs, taking care of two little boys as a single mom, and trying to get the most out of my college experience, i earned my master of accountancy, bachelor of science in business management, and minors in writing and organizational leadership.

All the petty stuff this religion focuses on amazes me. Maybe Loesh,or however you spell his name,is using all the hair care products,so they're high in demand,lol.

Indeed, I bet Loesh has a standing appt at the Bethel salon for his dye, wash & set.

The acceptance of braided styles depends on the area the cong is located. I've attended congs in the inner city & suburbia; most discouragment came from the suburban folks. Until recently, sisters with braids,locs or twists could'nt give parts on the CA & DA level.
