For cellulitis/mastitis of the breast. When I got sick, I didn't know why or what for. I had chills and a fever. My husband called my daughter to come over to check up on me. My daughter took my temp and it was over 102 degrees. I felt like crap. I thought I had the flu. My daughter MADE me go to the ER. When I got there, my temp was over 103. They checked me from head to toe but nothing showed up. They decided to keep me overnight for observation. The next day when I woke up, my breast was red and had swollen about two sizes larger than the other. It was hard as a rock and very painful. My temp stayed in the 100's for that day. It didn't break until the following day.

I had went into the ER on Monday night and I didn't get released from the hospital until Friday afternoon; and that was because I begged the doctor to let me go home. During the stay, I was on round the clock IV fluids and IV antibiotics. The antibiotics that I received were Vancomycin and Clindamycin. I will have to take the Clindamycin orally for another week.

    Anyway, that where I was.

P.S. Yes, it's unusual for a postmenopausal woman to get this. Hopefully, that's all it is!

My 19 tear old granddaughter just had something like that. her Mom said she had it once before. Last time was worse, this time is just hurt pretty bad and was swollen. I believe she only had a slight fever. They gave her antibiotics before but this time it was a lot milder so she waited to go to the Dr and it slowly went away..

Hope you are feeling better and that it doesn't happen again!!!!

Monday to Friday, that was a long time to stay in hospital..you must have felt terrible poor thing.

Snoozy, I felt like crap. The high fever and my high heart rate is what made them put me in the hospital. I am on the mend now. Thanks for caring!
