Ask yourself "Do you mind being viewed as inactive/irregular by family and the BOE?" If this is of concern, turn in a slip. Don't give the slips to the in-laws, send them directly to the secretary.

If you choose not to turn in time, thank your in-laws for the slips and tell them that your will contact the secretary. If they insist, repeat until you sound like a broken record.

If you choose to take any future calls from the BOE about your time, tell them that you are upset that they are discussing the personal matter of your FS time with your in-laws. Let them know that when you have FS time to report, you will contact them.

How many have left your congregation ?

hi everyone ,.

there are many new folk joining here everyday , and i thought it may be interesting and fun to just see how many people have left the congregation that you have attended in the past 5 years .

i dont mean of course people who are active jw's moving to another cong , but people that have left the wt religion , faded , da'd or df'd .. so , i will start off with my own cong .there have been 9 leave , 8 completely gone , myself hardly ever there and ' inactive ' .. leo999.

I live is a large NE US city and i'm in proximity to 3 KH's. ALL of the congregations in these halls have merged, thats about 9 becoming 4 congregations in the last 2 years. My numbers are not exact. But many are leaving and not coming back esp in the 16-35 age range.

Missing meetings due to the weather, and then attending meetings is making me Bipolar I think.

without divulging too much information about myself, i'm on the east coast, up north.

we've been hammered by snow storms, and from what i hear we've got another one on the way tommorrow night.

this month, i've missed 4 meetings total.

The meeting was canceled tonight due to snow and high winds...this is the best winter ever for faders!

Glad you had a successful surgery, wish you a speedy recovery. You handled your mom and dad well especially in your delicate condition. Your bf sounds like a true gem!

I remember attending DC's in DE around this time and at the VET; there were always apostates protesting and passing out leaflets.

Deleted Elders?

i knew about elders being "deleted" and have commented what a strange and pejorative term that is, but it wasn't until "wtwizard" and "designs" commented on another thread about it that it actually hit home for me.. one cannot step down as an elder with any dignity!

elder's can't quit, with the word "quit" being as in "he quit his job.

" elder's can't resign as in "he resigned as chairman of the board for xyz corp.".

This is the way it's announced at my KH.

How many of you were baptised at a young age?

one thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.

yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".

kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

Would YOU Stop Wearing Cologne Or Perfume At A KH If Someone Had Allergies?

we had a few that would start coughing if someone wore a fragrance.

they would make a big deal about anyone wearing cologne and say such ones were not loving and considerate.

some elders would recommend that witnesses should not wear any cologne or perfume, if they loved their brother or sister.

IA with Yknot. I'm not skipping my perfume for a known hypo or nutty, power hungry elderette/co wife. Usually the complainers fall into these catagories.
