I like how this thread died 14 hours ago, and the other thread where the OP said not to post is still active.
I waited until after I got out to try any drugs (not counting caffeine, alcohol, and prescriptions). Now I LOVE me some pot (but don't like alcohol so much 'cause it makes me sick).

A new religion ? possibly?
by ballistic inthis isn't exactly what i believe because i'm always changing my mind, but i kinda think this type of idea sounds interesting.
some bits stollen from elsewhere and other bits mixed with my own original thought.... the universe doesn't really exist, it's all in the mind of god.
well not strictly true, god doesn't have a mind as such; the universe and everything in it including us is all part of god.

You sound like a pantheist or panentheist. It may seem like a foreign and unique concept to western theists but there are billions of people in the world who believe in a god but are nontheists of those sorts.
Pantheists aren't necessarily nontheists, but otherwise you took the words out of my mouth. -

Jehovah's Witnesses & Higher Education
by minimus ini believe that jws demonize higher education so much, that it makes them look like weirdos!.
you and your family are penalized if someone goes to college!.
when i tell any "worldly" (aka "normal" person) that witnesess view higher education with disdain and ridicule, i always get the same response:.

That is a good point, though, LF. After all... an Ivy League University is just a name (Well... Actually it's a football league, but that's a different discussion altogether). She can get an amazing education closer to home... Staying away from the evils of *shudder* coed dorms. Who knows what kind of trouble a full grown adult will get into when they aren't carefully watched 24/7 by their parents and congregation. Thank Jehovahâ„¢ that there's a perfectly good college down the street.

Apollo 13 was the thirteenth space flight, the one which failed.
LoL... But so did Apollo 1... But strangely enough there was no 2 or 3. Just learned that when I was googling.
These number things are always amusing... It's a shame that we don't have a similar system in English. I'd like to do this to The God Delusion... I'm sure I could find some amusing things... Though the bible is a much larger text on a broader topic with more opportunity for odd (or purposeful) coincidences.

There is no cause and effect as we no it before the big bang. Time is just a dimension of the universe. For all we know, there was no time before it... And there are times that cause and effect don't apply in the same order... With effect coming before cause (at least in a laboratory)... And I forgot where I was going with this idea, but its a cool idea nonetheless.

Darwinian aliens are distinctly possible, if unlikely, within what we currently know, but the infinite aliens would require a LOT of proof... Along the lines of us tracing back the big bang and finding out the explosion spelled "LoL. We've been here forever. Bet you can't read this for another fourteen billion years". The more extraordinary the claim, the more extraordinary the required proof... And infinite aliens are infinitely more extraordinary than Darwinian ones...
EDIT: I'm sure there's a more reasonable proof they would be able to provide... That's just all I could think of off the top of my head.
EDIT2: This seems like the same argument, and basically is. The idea is that a creature that has always been is so far out of the realm of known science that it cannot be reasonably conjectured at this time with any scientific merit. (Though they always make for interesting thought experiments)

Dawkins argument for the origin of said alien species is actually in "The God Delusion". The idea I believe he was trying to get across, though I by no means am his spokesperson, is that the chance of the alien species coming spontaneously into existance is so astronomically low as to be impossible. Hence, they themselves would have had to come about via a natural process. It has nothing to do with wishing and is only related to the laws of the universe as we currently understand them.
