Okay... I can't take this anymore. My BS meter exploded. He started his argument by saying that the bible is right because it says it is and then goes on from there using only the bible as the source for his arguments. Really? Also, attacking the theory of evolution by accusing Darwin of being racist?

Bioflex, we are going one of three places:

1) Extinction of our reproductive lines.

2) Evolution into one or many species through either biological or technological means.

3) Discovering immortality and staying the same forever without reproduction.

Of course, it can actually be any combination of those, but it has to be at least one of them. The point is that there is no set endpoint. We have no control. It's just going to happen, like the weather.

Do YOU Believe That JWs Have A Huge Problem With Pedophiles?

i don't think there are more pedophiles in the religion than there are in others.. i understand that one is too many.

but i think some believe that it's an epidemic within the organization.

i believe their 2 witness rule can help pedophiles secretly abuse kids.. but i don't think that this particular crime dominates those in the religion.. .

I did a little math earlier this year based on some statistics I found about pedophiles in the Jehovah's Witnesses, and came to the [highly un-scientific] conclusion the Jehovah's Witnesses have slightly less pedophiles than the average population. Like has already been said in this thread, the issue is not that there are too many pedophiles in the congregations, but instead that they aren't dealt with properly.

1st evidence: the release of loyal jews from exile, made possible by the fall of babylon, foreshadowed the release in 1919 of anointed christians from spiritual exile.

2nd evidence: that year marked the beginning of the period when the anointed remnants were released from a form of spiritual captivity to the ideas and practices of false religion.

although having rejected such false teachings as the trinity and the immortal soul, they were still tainted by babylonish practices.

TheClarinetist - Were you not aware that the 1914 prediction was made before the event took place?. Wasn't the war not enough substantial evidence to establish the fact that something had been shaken in the spiritual realm?

It was prophesied that something would happen, a prophesy originating from Pyramidology, hence my comment on Kemetism. The 1914 prophesy came after Jesus' "second coming" in the late 1800s and is completely unrelated to what is currently taught. And even what is currently taught is dependant on several important dates in known history being wrong.

TheClarinetist - Why are you hiding under the pretext of coincidence?, when would you ever accept the fullfillment f prophecy as evidence of divine intervention?.

Good questions.

First, I'm hiding behind coincidence because coincidences are all around us. They're bound to happen. They happen every day. They're common. Divine intervention which is not more easily explained by coincidence is not. It is simply a fact of life when you're dealing with billions of people each doing thousands of things every day.

The prophecy would have to be given before the events took place, and be firmly linked to them by factual evidence. The more explicit the better, as the more generalized the prophecy is, the more probable that there is a coincidental fullfillment which appears to fit the "facts". As for the second item [in your original post]: Whether or not they were chosen by God, they would have continued to preach after their release from prison. It's what religious leaders do. As for the first: You first have to prove 1914, so at the very least you're doing these in the wrong order. And 1914 is definitely a tough sell on the basis of "firmly linked to them by factual evidence". At best, the events of 1914 point more towards Kemetism as the true religion.

So we should believe Jehovah's Witnesses because the appeal process sometimes works and sometimes people get put in jail for crimes they didn't commit? During wartime?

I bet there are a lot of people that were falsely accused of crimes that think they're God's chosen followers... Should I look into all of them? You have to prove 1914, that they were chosen, and that they have or came to have the truth before either of those statements means anything. It's not even a coincidence, as that would require something to coincide with.

Did they prophesy that they would be out of jail by 1919? That would be interesting, and might qualify for a coincidence if you could prove it.

EDIT: BTW, thanks for the trolling Mankelli. It feels good to vent my argumentativeness sometimes.
