Guy on the front row, second from the left, is a little short to be a Storm Trooper. He must be an apostate. LoL

by mankkeli inplease dont be guilty of the sins you have indicted the wt of commiting.
something is common to all on this discussion board, we are quick at castigating the watchtower.
although, i understand your reasons for doing so, but i will warn you not to be guilt of the same offense the wt had committed.

I'm pretty sure 99.9% of us her are sane... or at least mostly sane. We do get trolls, and disagreements do happen. It's par for the course on forums, especially when they deal with controversial topics.

What is the spark that powers Evolution?
by N.drew ini have no idea, that is why i'm asking.
i did mention on another thread that need might be involed, but they said no.
so what powers evolution?

I think (don't know for sure) that that is part of the reason why evolution past single-celled life forms took 2.8 billion years. However, going past single celled organisms, there are many examples of how this could happen. For example: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/library/01/1/l_011_01.htm describes one possible pathway to the human eye.

thetrueone has the best answer, but it doesn't take in account how reproduction reached the end of evolution.
Evolution is still happening all around us and to us. What do you mean?

Nancy, it's not just time you have to take into consideration. At any point in history, you have millions or billions of organisms, each reproducing with a probability of producing a mutation. You have hundreds of thousands if not millions of different mutations going through each population at any given time (after all, just look at hair color, eye color, etc...). Evolution didn't create a kidney and then create a bladder, and then mesh it all together, they developed together very, very slowly.
You also have to take into account lifespans. The shorter the reproductive cycle of an animal, the faster it will evolve. That is how scientists have managed to selectively breed a completely different species of bacteria in, like, 20 years. If you only take bacteria into consideration (assuming they reproduce every 20 minutes), 4.5 billion years is about equal to 2.4 * 10^24 generations. That's a LOT of generations.
And then you also have to consider that different species of animals are remarkably similar to each other genetically. For example, Humans and Mice supposedly only have a difference in 2.5% of their DNA. (Sauce on that one). Very little change in genotype, as was said earlier, can create very large changes in phenotype.

Will "Bethel" cement a young person in or convince him out?
by extractor ini teach in a public high school.
my favorite student is a 17 year old great kid named tyler.
i teach band so he's been my student for 6 years now.

6 years? Did you move up a grade with him?
I feel for you... I'm going to school for the same thing, and dealing with JWs on the job, especially students I like, is not something I'm looking forward to. :-/ I don't have any idea about bethel, but he sounds smart so hopefully he'll see through the BS in a couple years.
EDIT: Worded that weirdly. Schools around here are only 3-4 years. Did you happen to get a promotion when he moved on, or do you teach at both the middle AND high school.

Effects of the Evolution Theory
by mankkeli ineffects of the evolution theory.
in the early 19th century, religion and science enjoyed a fairly amicable relationship.
just two years before the origin of species was published, biologist and harvard professor louis agassiz wrote that the living world shows premeditation, wisdom, greatness and that a major purpose of natural history was to analyze the thoughts of the creator of the universe.. agassiz viewpoint was not uncommon.

Mankelli - That has nothing to do with anything. Like finding your wife sleeping with another man, the cat is out of the bag, and now we have to deal with it.
Larsinger - "Evolutionists" don't generally bother with abiogenesis because scientists (who I am in this paragraph separating from the lay "Evolutionists") are still trying to figure that one out. There are many hypotheses, but so far none has been proven to the satisfaction of the majority of the scientific community. Evolution, however, has extensive genetic, fossil, and even experimental evidence. It is as much a part of the study of biology as the laws of motion are a part of the study of physics. Just because science doesn't know the answer to a particular question (even though they seem well on their way to figuring it out) doesn't mean that God did it... ESPECIALLY when theory that you are putting forth (which I assume is biblical creationism) disputes well-established facts.
And in the end, LS, whatever the evidence, scientists, or I say doesn't matter. You will continue to believe what you believe because it makes you feel good. So who cares? LoL
