Marginal Notes in the 'Shepherd the Flock of God'
by Londo111 inelders of the jeroboam/conscious class, .
it is my understanding, correct me if i am wrong, that during the km school, the instructors have elders write notes in the margins of the shepherd book, notes that legal does not want in print, and perhaps by extension, extra tidbits they don't want leaked to the public and/or average witness.. .
can you share some of these from the latest km school?.

"Community" tv show--the jw episode
by rebel8 inhttp://www.cinemablend.com/television/12-things-troy-wouldn-t-do-community-actually-jehovah-witness-37613.html.
did you see this?
i searched to see if anyone had commented on it yet but couldn't find any.. i'm watching it now..

Apparently the actor that plays Troy was raised to be a Jehovah's Witness... I think they just didn't want to push it, but were interested in using the character for the concept. Like it was said in the article, Jehovah's Witnesses aren't very interesting for sitcoms.

With the amount of stuff I've seen and heard at schools involving religious persecution, racism, zero tolerance policies, etc., there is very little that would surprise me these days.
EDIT: Ah... I do see where they got the quote from. Still, even if what he really said was outright sexual, the punishment does not fit the crime.
EDIT2: Fiancee found the school districts response: http://www.theroot.com/buzz/district-reverses-suspension-4th-grader-who-called-teacher-cute

To be fair, it's the parents side. I doubt the kid called the media, and the parent would have been personally told by the principal exactly what had happened. I really fail to see how this is harrassment at all, considering it appears to be a one time comment made between two friends.

Your Thoughts, Please (Seriously)...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
on occasion, dear ones post questions on the board that have a "legal" undertone.
sometimes those questions are just trying to get a sense of what questions such one should ask (perhaps of an attorney), sometimes they have to do with very ordinary events, and sometimes they really do require in-depth legal assistance/analysis.

No worries, A Guest. My fiancee and I are just having fun tonight after weeks of unrelenting stress. I probably shouldn't be posting in my current condition, but I was concerned that I started something. No worries. Have a wonderful night. Peace be with you.

That is awesome. Thank you for letting everyone know. I'm so happy for you :)
Thanks. We got a loan from Student Money Management and got it to the landlord without issue. Talked to a lawyer... The works. Also, if you remember that Happy birthday post with the box o' wine left over from our anniversary, on a scale of 1 to how sh*tfaced, I am... Hey... what was I talking about again?

This argument is kind of insane. I asked a badly worder question, and y'all keep fighting about it. The fight is doing nothing to help me except to make the situation more stressful. Basically, don't be a douche, and don't represent yourself as being a valid legal opinion coming from a lawyer. Since none of you did that, I don't understand what the continued strife is about. I didn't take your opinion as any more than the opinion of random people on a forum that I have a lot of respect for. If you are fighting on my behalf, please stop.
Also, I'm drunk, and this is exceptionally hard to type, so you may safely disregard this if it is not applicable.
By the way, the specific situation you have been arguing about has resolved amicably. I thought you might want to know that.

The Supreme Court of Texas has held that the courts ultimately decide what is and is not the practice of law.
Here you go. That quote is from courts.state.tx.us, specifically found in this document. IANAL, but it seems to suggest that whether or not it is "legal advice" is completely up to the courts, and there is no point in arguing about it until someone gets sued.

Transgender - A Case of Tested Friendship
by Amazing infriendship comes in all stages, shapes, and sizes, from the very close, as brothers, built over a lifetime, to the budding kind that has only a few months or a year or two.
i have been friends with sam (fictious name) for about seven years.
we are not real close friends, but have a good quality relationship that is mostly confined to the office.. recently, sam told me that he had an issue with a female agent who tried to get him fired.

This is an interesting question... Being transgender is considered a mental illness of some sort (I'm not completely aware of the specifics) and is treated medically (through hormone therapy and surgery). From that perspective, you can definitely say that it is some sort of mental illness, disease, syndrome, or some other term that might be more applicable. That said, I have 5 or 6 transgender friends, and think they are some of the most wonderful people I know. I have a lot of respect for them, and am an avid supporter of transgender rights, as well as for the rest of the GLBT community. Everyone should have the right to express their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Sexual reassignment does make one eligible for legal marriage. One's gender is actually changed in the eyes of the state.
Ironically, it also works in some of the states that it doesn't legally change your gender. I am friends with a lesbian couple that can legally get married in the state of Texas because one of them is MTF. Basically, it works out like this (I will be using sex to mean birth gender and gender to mean actual gender): If gay marriage is legal, transgender people can marry freely. If gay marriage is illegal, but being trans legally changes your gender, a trans person can marry someone of the opposite gender. If gay marriage is illegal and being trans does not legally change your gender, a trans person can marry someone of the opposite sex.
