Again, would someone stoop low enough, for a few minutes, to write them this great idea, pleading in their best sycophant language, that the sheeple would be delighted to daily look upon the mugs and bods of their favourite council of Popes?

Wasn't this exactly what made people realise Jeff Skilling, of Enron, was not God, and could actually be prosecuted and jailed for his crimes?
From the 2005 movie "The Smartest Guys in the Room".
http://www.foxnews.com/story/2002/01/28/rise-and-fall-enron/
"June 21, 2001 - At an appearance in California, Jeff Skilling is hit in the face with a cream pie as Enron comes under fire for "profiteering" from the electricity crisis."
It worked once, and it can work again.

This will be a GREAT organization!
by Kensho inwhen...... 1) we follow christ example not the gb.
2) stop df'ing those for challenging current or past doctrine and allow us to use our god given gift of reason and free wil.
sure kick out the scumbags even the lions club have rules for membership, but not those who just use their brains and consience.. 3) get rid of the nonsensical blood teaching that has cost the lives of thousands and beg god for forgiveness.

Except it is "organisation" that keeps getting in the way of "relationship".
As Bill Maher explained:
"I'm not an atheist. There's a really big difference between an atheist and someone who just doesn't believe in religion. Religion to me is a bureaucracy between man and God that I don't need. But I'm not an atheist, no."
As Jesus explained:
(Matthew 7:22, 23, NWT) . . .Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! . . .
(John 17:3, RNWT) This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
As Charles Taze Russell warned:
"Beware of organization. It is wholly unnecessary. The Bible rules will be the only rules you will need. Do not seek to bind others' consciences, and do not permit others to bind yours." ( Concerning profitable meetings, Zion's Watch Tower, September 15, 1895 )

How Accurate Is JWN In Your Opinion?
by minimus inwould you say this board gives accurate information, overall?
if someone started reading the comments here, do you think they would find this discussion board as accurate?.
-
Fernando
To me that sounds a little like asking:
"how accurate is a community?"
or, "how accurate is the process of making sense of disturbing experiences?"
Of course I'm sure most posters try to be as accurate as possible within the confines of their ability when sharing and comparing their necessarily subjective experiences, in an effort to arrive at objective conclusions.

Are there more child sex predators in fundamentalists sects like the Jehovah's Witnesses
by Watchtower-Free inis there any resource that shows a higher incidence of child abuse ?.
-
Fernando
Religious fundamentalism and the attendant legalism and moralism have defined outcomes.
Polarisation.
Isolation.
Extremism.
Hypocrisy.
Self-righteousness (potentially malignant).
Ignorance (potentially militant).
Addiction.
Irrationality.
Blindness.
In these fertile circumstances extant bad and the capacity for bad are amplified dramatically.
Scientific studies would be great.
In the meantime a guru from Nazareth once said:
"Do you have any idea how silly you look, writing a life story that's wrong from start to finish, nitpicking over commas and semicolons? You're hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You burnish the surface of your cups and bowls so they sparkle in the sun, while the insides are maggoty with your greed and gluttony. Stupid Pharisee! Scour the insides, and then the gleaming surface will mean something. You're hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You're like manicured grave plots, grass clipped and the flowers bright, but six feet down it's all rotting bones and worm-eaten flesh. People look at you and think you're saints, but beneath the skin you're total frauds." (Matt 23, Message Bible).

She is Going to Talk to the Elders About My Questions...What Should I Expect?
by HeyThere inso one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues i am having with the religion.
so i told her, rather carefully, how i discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse.
she was horrified.

Great question and strategy Watchtower-Free.
BTW you can actually take a thirsty but hostile horse to the water and force water down its throat.
But it WILL vomit and HATE you.
And if the horse is a Pharisee, it may even give you the 'ship - the disfellowship that is.

Are we living in the best time in human history, and on the edge at the same time?
by Fernando inpersonally i believe we are.. your thoughts?.
how will it turn out?.
what can/should we do?.

Being able to search billions of pages on the internet in under a second gives ordinary folk like us the opportunity to connect with the greatest minds and thinking on any topic at any time.
This, it seems to me, is part of what is fuelling and making possible change (for the better) in our day.
Forums like JWN also create powerful virtual communities of people who voluntarily and powerfully support each other's life and career journeys, as well as lines of enquiry into an impressive array of topics, fields and disciplines.

I liked your sumary and description, in bold, Focus.
In "Physics of the Future" (2011) by Michio Kaku, in the Introduction, under the heading "Science as a Sword", on page 16, which I was reading this morning:
"Of course, science is a double edged sword; it creates as many problems as it solves, but always on a higher level. There are two competing trends in the world today: one is to create a planetary civilisation that is tolerant, scientific, and prosperous, but the other glorifies anarchy and ignorance that could rip the fabric of our society. We still have the same sectarian, fundamentalist, irrational passions of our ancestors, but the difference is that we now have nuclear, chemical and biological weapons."

??? Love never fails ???
by Zoos in1 corinthians 13:8 - love never fails.... .
i've always thought it meant that where love once existed it will always exist, always be felt no matter what happens.
the last few years have forced me to abandon that understanding in favor of new light.. now i'm thinking: love never fails to be the appropriate way to handle any given situation.
-
Fernando
I would go along with that.
Somehow I don't think we'd be able to attract quite as many followers as the Watchtower though, despite it being new light and all.
