just saw this today.

quite an experience.

the film raised many issues about clergy, religion, morality, guilt and forgiveness.. .

Maybe we're in for many more related movies, now that society has finally chosen to question religion, and focus on the evil of: "childhood sexual abuse by a priest" (or "elder").

My wife has firsthand experience of such abuse, and is passionate about making an upbeat fictional movie, that showcases this and related issues, in a moving narrative.

i updated the list of partakers to 2013 (see below)...if i was to predict as to what new light might be coming down the borg poop shoot may be.

i would predict that they need to do something about the 144,000 being a literal number.. for two reasons:.

1. the number of partakers is increasing every year.

There must at least be some uncanny power in the koolaid "mother" has "lovingly" prepared.

Otherwise how can one explain that almost anyone and everyone else can see that 144,000 is not a literal number, and that heaven and earth are included in the "one hope" of scripture?

Would you go to church?

i have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.

even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.

just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

As a believer in Jesus, and in the liberating gospel message about him, I do not believe in religion, but would like to take a tour of different manmade "Churches".

However I find clericalism offensive, and am still trying to figure out how to respond to the usual ignorant questions, and the obsessive possessive aggressive judgmental recruitment mentality:

"Where do you go to Church"?

i'm new to this website and i thought i'd create a profile.

i was disfellowshipped in july of 2013 in another city.

i since moved and starting going to meeting about 6 months ago in my new city.

Welcome kayanow!

Some here may understand your reasons for wanting or having to go back.

Personally I would discourage you unless you are going back for the sake of family and friends.

Just hang in there, and some good advice could soon come along.

Hopefully you are in the process of getting more informed about TATT, although of course I believe it is much safer to first learn as much as you can about the "unabridged gospel" of grace (starting with the books of Romans and Galatians).

In the mean time are you able to fill us in with more details?

This might help improve the quality of advice.

Some here were elders for several decades, and know the ropes well.

I feel inclined to believe the father and his sincere plea, much as I despise the apostate religious organisation he belongs to.

In the face of conflicting and arrogant medical opinion, threats and coercion, the parents' normal right, to seek out what they believe is the best medical treatment, should be even more paramount.

Again this appears to have nothing to do with the Watchtower's ludicrous, convoluted and ever changing blood doctrine.

Give the family a break, at the very least.

Even better, what about some support?

Interesting that Jesus took issue with those representing themselves as God's VISIBLE organisation and channel (golden calf) on earth even telling them they were from the father the Devil and destined for Gehenna (Matt 23 esp v2 and v15).

He even made short shrift of them when they (hypocritically) wanted to stone a woman caught at adultery (John 8:1-11).
