"Probably You Might be Saved" - Somewhere in Zephaniah As I Recall
by Perry inthe watchtower (and old-timers in the org) love to quote old testament passages that were directed toward israel.
however, the new testament is "a better covenant based upon better promises".. in the following verses, salvation is not described as a possibility, but as a certainty, as a present possession for the original christians:.
justification is a present possession (rom.

Hey designs.
If we could put Paul aside for a minute, I'm wondering how you would respond if asked if the Good News or gospel according to Moses, Isaiah and Psalms was in your heart and on your lips? (Isa 61:1; Ps 68:11)

Thank you for sharing and highlighting the "present possession" observation and supporting scriptures Perry.
I love it.
The Watchtower being physical/religious/carnal is not able to discern the spiritual.
So their truncated version of the Good News consists only of "future physical".
They miss and hide the "present spiritual".
And that is how they keep millions captive, addicted and blind.
It is no accident that their followers know nothing of the "Good News" according to Paul.
And yet more than half the Bible's roughly 152 references to "Good News" are by Paul.

GAD amongst JWs and/or ex-JWs.
by tenene ini have been following the oscar pistorius trial, and as some of you would know, the way he grew up is said to have affected his psychy.
he's said to traumatised and disturbed by his past.
do we know if there are any ex-jws who were also diagnosed with the same or similar kind of mental illness/disorder?

I suppose every Watchtower exiting person experiences some level of "Generalized Anxiety Disorder" (GAD) as they abandon the supposed security of their sometimes lifelong "cult identity" and try to discover their suppressed "authentic identity".
When you did not think the ground under your feet could move it is a great big shock when it does.
For current members, one imagines Cognitive Dissonance (CD) can create GAD.

Hopefully it might encourage a few more to come forward and tell their "human interest" stories.

The WT Isn't Going Away (sorry got long)
by LostGeneration ini've seen more threads and comments in the last week about the "demise of the wt" than in some time.
several were on threads about the donation arrangement and how its going to backfire in some way on the wt.
oh and the lone elder who was pissed in some sort of passive-aggresive manner about it when he presented the resolution.

The scam ™ fully and accurately deconstructed in under 3 minutes.
Too bad that so many of those being scammed are being badly blindsided.
They are addicted to, following and worshipping a VISIBLE corrupt manmade organisation exposed by its many toxic fruits.
Still I am hopeful of her unexpectedly sudden demise.
My personal experience has also helped confirm for me that she is one of Babylon's many harlots.
(Revelation 18:21) . . .“Thus with a swift pitch will Babylon the great city be hurled down, and she will never be found again.

Ray Franz - is he REALLY a hero?
by baltar447 inon one hand, he's enlightnened many to the internal circle jerk that is the governing body (circa the 70s).. but if there's one reason that can be pointed to for the jws becoming full on cult, it's ray franz.
without him leaving in the manner he did, and stirring the pot, they might not have change the rule (retroatively i might add) on shunning of disassociated ones.
they specifically changed that so they could remove him and eliminate his influence.. his actions single handedly have created the situation where we have to fade, evade, leave marriages, say goodbye to family, just because we don't buy the jw bullsh!t anymore.

At the end of the day he found, accepted, pursued and promoted the "gospel of grace" and exposed its opposite namely legalism (and moralism) as apostasy.
This is something anyone can do, and many exJWs have.
How many?
Possibly millions.
The difference?
In the end not too much really.
He was human and likely went through many of the same process and phases millions of exJWs do: questions, research, doubt, uncertainty, shock, fear, horror, loss of identity, consolidation, peace and so on.
True, Ray rose much higher and had more to lose than most of us by way of credibility, status, authority and power.
He was also very good at explaining, and writing, at length and in great detail.

The stark contrast between Science and Christianity says it all.
by Island Man injesus prayed that all his followers be united as one.
but we see christianity divided into thousands of denominations.
this division is partly due to the fact that the book that christianity claims is the truth, the inspired word of a supremely wise god, was not written in a sufficiently unambiguous manner as to make its one true meaning indisputably clear throughout.. by contrast take a field of science - say physics.

Indeed, "Christless Christianity" is a particularly virulent and pathogenic strain of the religion virus.
“Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.” Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
“The idea of being spiritual – not religious – is increasingly popular among the scientific community as well as in American culture at large. Many scientists who are politically liberal don’t want to associate with religion because of its conservative valence today. Historically, there are no boundary disputes between spirituality and science, unlike religion and science" (Prof David Yamane).
