I went to 4 proms in the mid 1960s. After my Jr & Sr prom, I was invited to go to two other proms by some of the JW girls I knew. It wasn't an issue in our KH at that time.

**They probably won't even notice the change, the society seems to put it in the paragraph
so obscure that it is glossed over**
I agree with hope4others; the rank-n-file just go through the motions, don't question, and sit in the back of the Tower's bus that leads to nowhere. A few might start to question and exit, but the Tower could state that black is white, and most wouldn't awaken from their sleep. -

Reassignment of Bethelites having negative impact on NYC congregations
by truthseeker ini was talking to a friend of mine recently who had some knowledge of the current situation with bethelites being let go.. he said that this is having a negative impact on some congregations in new york city because these bethelites are also serving as elders in their congregations.. when a bethel elder is reassigned, the congregation loses out on the leadership, and in some cases there are not enough brothers taking the lead to keep the congregation running.. as a consequence of this, a few congregations have been disbanded and merged with other nearby congregations.. has anyone heard anything similar to this?.

Maybe it's a sign that we're finally living in the time of the end--for the Watchtower. I'm sure the internet has had a huge impact on groups like the Tower. Truth is a powerful force.

I volunteer one Saturday a month as a mediator at our city mediation center. Most of the cases come through the courts, but it can include other types of mediation, too. It's a lot more fulfilling than bugging people Saturday mornings selling swill from the Tower.

What's wrong with the WTBS in a nushell.
by JeffT ini realized the other morning that it was twenty years ago that i started my exit.
at the spring 1988 circuit assembly (i think it was in february or march) they absolutely hammered on the point that higher ed was a waste of time.
armageddon was going to happen any day now and there was no point in preparing for life in system that was about to end.

that near the core of the religious experience is something remarkably resistant to rational inquiry."
Thanks for the Sagan quote, Daneil-P. I think high-control sects and cult-like religions push the envelope beyond "resistant to rational inquiry" to totally blind to rational inquiry. These religions do all they can to remove the eyes of believers. The blind following the blind becomes a fulfilled prophecy with groups like Jehovah's Witnesses.

Bye-Bye Brooklyn....were OUTTA there! Real Estate news.
by oompa ini was told today by a heavyweight elders wife, both of whom were at bethel for many years and are very well connected to the brooklyn brass, that all brooklyn bethel operations will be moved to wallkill and patterson.
in fact, there is a very exclusive walk-through next week for some of the top real estate investors/developers who will see all the properties, starting with the sands, and its lobby has now been remodeled to look just like a high-end hotel..................just fyi.................................oompa

When the lights go out on the "READ YOUR BIBLE DAILY" sign the Tower will need a replacement for the farm. My suggestion is, "WHAT HAPPENS ON THE FARM STAYS ON THE FARM."

It was a sight to see these large older ladies climb out of the very back row to do a door and then cram their large bottoms back in.
This is now burned into my mind--Thanks a lot! There's nothing like giving a good witness.

Galileo--thank you for the well-written history of your life as a JW. It's not easy living a lie day after day, and your story shows the damage that's caused when doing it. I don't enjoy someone else's pain, but your story goes beyond to the demons faced when exiting the Tower. Thanks again for sharing.
