yes, my ladyfriend and i were entering the san diego airport for our flight home to phoenix late yesterday afternoon, when i noticed a forty-ish man and woman sitting down behind a table loaded with wts publications.
i stopped to glance over them with joy.
i made familiar comments about some of the publications, noting the newer soft covers and trying to casually engage the pair in conversation.
How hypocritical...go to an institution of higher learning when the WTS tries to keep everyone uneducated!!! It would be great to tac up a poster in front of the table with a quote from the WT discussing the evils of higher education......

Truth can change, but it's difficult for truth-seekers to change.

A Catholic who reads something that's not printed by the church and that does not favor the church can still be a good Catholic. A JW that does the same is a "hypocritical JW." Nothing like a double standard when speaking "the Truth." :)
just been reading nicholas guyatt book on why 50 million americans believe the apocalypse will take place in their lifetime.. a lot of the book is about tim lahaye's books on the end of the world - the left behind series.
interesting paragragh states the following .
"unlike other prophecy preachers of more recent vintage, tim has been publishing end times books for thirty five years.
Sects and cults pointing to "Doomsday" within a generation use the same format and nearly the same words while stating they have special understanding or "Truth." I guess it proves that if you tell a big enough lie, they (followers) will come.

Wow--that was a lifetime ago! I still remember larc calling me on the phone telling me about this new site. larc was new to on-line groups and he joined right away--a few weeks later I did too. For awhile Simon used a real picture of himself--now that was scary! :) Thanks again Simon and others for a great ride.

it's pretty funny to me the level of obsession with homosexuality that many in the conservative right wing have in the united states.
i occassionally go to a news web site called world net daily, (www.worldnetdaily.com) which is a religious conservative news web site.
nearly every day they have articles on gays and gay issues (of course, always negative coverage).
I think open and honest discussion on topics usually leads to better understanding, even if one doesn't agree with the other side. That doesn't mean one who disagrees with Bush is really wanting to be like him--your point is well taken. However, I don't see many in the religious right being open to an honest discussion about gay topics.
If one is not willing or allowed to talk about sexual issues, what do they do with their own sexual questions or issues? Does that make them gay--of course not. But since they can't fully discuss this and other sexual issues, I think that shuts down exploring their own sexual questions and needs.
