Do they still have Unassigned Territory?

when i was a kid, going in "unassigned territory" was a big adventure.

we packed picnic lunches, loaded up the cooler with water and drinks, and of course, a trunk load of extra literature.

it was an all day affair and we really felt like we were doing something special for jehovah....going where there was no kingdom hall nearby and putting the message out there!.

Yes,they do,and also seldom worked territory. It is a bit more organized now.

But,it's a big to do at my congregation. It's like a congregation vacation. They go further away and work with a congregation to help them work their territory. They usually rent a cabin or even beach house,depending on where they are going.

My hall usually takes a long weekend to do this or even all week. I have never gone,because I can't bear to be stuck in a house with all those people no matter how nice,not even for a weekend. Plus,I don't even do field service in my own territory anymore.

And,of course,they still do the one day unassinged territory as you mentioned.

Finally getting my life in order.

i've been out for a few years now, officially ousted and shunned for probably a year and a half, maybe even closing in on two years, the exact date eludes me.

and given that i was still married to a witness, and one that i cared deeply about, i wasn't overly concerned with what i wanted, so much as how to make things better for her.

in the intervening time i think i have done that, and quite well.

I just want to add the final song was number 120 "Listen,Obey and Be Blessed".

It was the Special Talk today,so I had to sit through this Watchtower. And the part of not talking to disfellowshipped family members really made me sad. One point they ignored,if you have close friends,they are like your family. And it's equally distressing when you are told you must cut off contact from the person closest to you.

she is about 24 and has three other gay jw roommates and has for a few years.

virtually everyone knows they are gay.

Well,honestly,nothing suprises me anymore. Really,why would they even bother,auxiliary pioneer,I mean.

But,I've heard others express the same views. That acts of service,cancel out other "acts".

I'm curious,how they all figured out they had these same kinds of feelings,during an independent Watchtower study?

couple of things i found kind of interesting.

on the front it has the wording "qualify to live in the paradise" or something to that effect.

just another weird thing that jws teach, having to "qualify" for the paradise, based on your works of course.. the back has the image of daniel with the world powers on it, the bottom has a circle with a "?

I remember them having a modern-day drama and a drama based on a Biblical account. They were usually at the same time.,a modern -day example of the Biblical account they featured.

It's not my cup of tea. In fact,I doubt I'll even turn on the t.v.,because I'm sick of hearing about it already.

How Many of Them Do You Know About?

after flipper's thread about the wt child abuse cases, i started to think about how many children i know of personally who have been sexually abused by a jw!.

as someone who is not especially 'in the know', it's amazing that i do know five of them.

one who was a small baby, at the time!.

I know at least 10,but at least three were in the same family,and most abused by the same man. He has since been reinstated.

Did you watch R rated movies when you were in it?

last night, i watched an r rated movie that featured violence.

at least 30 people were shot in the first 45 min of the movie.. while i was in and an elder, i watched r rated movies all the time just didn't talk about it.

so how many of you watched r rated movies even though "mother" said not to?.

I agree with Blondie. If a movie's story line appealed to me,I would see it,no matter what the rating.

But,I personally can't watch movies full of blood and gore,and I still get spooked out by movies about poltergeists and such. So,I got my own standards.

I know some Witnesses who won't watch PG-13 movies either. Of course,that's what they claim.

And then,I know others who wait for R movies to come out on t.v. ,because they are more than likely edited.
