by techdotcom inhas anyone else, after leaving the restrictive rules of the jw world, tried having an open marriage, joining the 'lifestyle' of the swinger comunity?
we've been doing that for about 4-5 months now and it's been an interesting experience, in fact it's been a major distraction from the hell of rebuilding our lives outside the religion and our base of friends.

by miseryloveselders ini'm not the biggest fan of depeche mode, but a couple of their albums were actually ok. there's one track by them i've always loved called, "strangelove" from their music for the masses album, and the lyrics remind me of my own thought process at times.
the lead vocalist sings at one point, "i give in, to sin, because you have to make this life livable.
looking back on it, i feel that i needed to watch that fight.

I was always a Depeche Mode fan. And the "Violater" album is awesome. And a lot of their songs I always related to being a Witness, "Policy of Truth" "Clean" "Sea of Sin",etc.
And I always did rationalize various choices of entertainment,such as,watching the "R" rated movie,is okay,because it's only rated that for language.
I'm sort of in the same boat as you right now,trying to fade. But, the longer I'm mentally out,the more I just don't want to give any more of my life to the Watchtower. I just want to live my life and be happy. They make harmless things sinful,and we feel guilty over nothing.
Most of the ones I grew up with are disfellowshipped. Now,that I'm fading, I sometimes write to them,or call them,and have even went for a drink with one. In Watchtower land, I committed a grave disfellowshipping act,but to the rest of the world, I had a drink with an old friend.
The fact of the matter is, any Witness posting on an "apostate" site is indulging in questionable behavior to say the least. I'm including myself in this. And I don't feel guilty one bit anymore. Now, there are some things I feel really guilty about,but, that's another topic. lol.

I never heard that Prince song. I guess they didn't play it on the radio. But, it would be hard trying to fade being famous and all. If you do anything controversial, it's going to be out there.

current JW tagged in pictures in Xmas and Birthday parties on FB
by James_Slash inhad to laugh when i saw this.. a current jw who i know on fb was tagged in photos showing him at a christmas party a few days ago.
within minutes of them landing he removed the tags because obviously these would have been seen by other jw's on his page.. when i asked him why he'd removed them he said: "i was off work sick and i didn't want my colleagues seeing me on the razzle".

I know facebook can be dangerous to a fading JW. I foolishly accepted a friend's request from a "sister" who used to go to the same hall. I feel bad for having to delete her,but I'm going to have to do that. I did it to my sister-in-law and brother,and acted like it was an accident,but I think they know better.
Oh,well,I think I'll end up df-d soon anyway. I can't stand being a hypocrite anymore.

December 15th WT gives example of sister who quit her job so she could go to an convention.
by life is to short ini was beyond mad when i heard this.
it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.
when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.

Yes, I really don't know how you can continue to read the magazines. I still attend a couple meetings here and there,but I don't even bother to read them. It's all the same.
But, I am sorry,you had such a hard time with your parents,and that, none of the elders came to your aid.
I am ashamed to admit, I used to believe all that was written in the magazines. Now, I know better.
Most Witnesses just love these kind of experiences and will be sure to share them with their calls and Bible studies.

Circuit Assembly Cancelled - AGAIN
by St George of England init should have been our ca tomorrow and sunday but it has been cancelled because of the weather.
we had a light sprinkling of snow today but it has frozen and the roads around hayes bridge are treacherous.. the ca two weeks ago was cancelled for the same reason and some of those congregations were scheduled to join us this weekend.. guess i will just have to have a lie in this weekend!.

Were you ever counseled in your talks by the school overseer for something stupid?
by life is to short inwhen i was a teenager i was always counseled because i have a speech impediment.
i have a real hard time with r's.
it was a nightmare giving talks.

I had the same problem with my "r" 's LITS. I got a W on my slip too. One good thing is they don't give G's and W's anymore. And they are only to give commendation on the platform. And anything the student needs to work on is discussed in private after the meeting.
But,we had a brother in our hall who was the overseer in the second school and known as W, J***,because he had to give at least one W per school.

by d ini am new here i have posted only a couple of times.i still an nervous though.
i left the witness in 2008 and am still struggling with my belief syestem .although i am now reading richard dawkins the god delusion which by the way is a really good book i am already in chapter 2.so here i am new and unsure, if i should be on this site or not..

Welcome D! We've all been where you are right now,being a nervous first time poster. I was where you are right now,just a year ago. But, I learned so much from this site and no longer feel any guilt being a regular poster here.
