Cause of Mass Shootings Mental Health?
by blondie ini have been sad to see so many groups and individuals say that the cause of these events are the mental status of the shooters.
i have looked over the backgrounds of these shooters, and few had medically identified mental health issues.
it is too easy to think that people shoot or kill other people because they are mentally ill.. actually, many or most people with real mental illnesses are most likely to be the victims of others.. i have been a volunteer with the organization called nami (national alliance of mental lillness) for 25 years now.

I agree with peacefulpete that assault weapons have no place in the hands of anyone simply because they are able to obtain them. And I think perpetrators of mass killings are not necessarily mentally ill .... But most certainly lacking fellow feeling. Their hatred and anger was fed to a point where they exploded. An abusive background, lack of healthy socialization, media over coverage of hate crimes, all may have come into play. Strict gun control may stem the tide to some extent but if you have an angry hate filled person intent on acting out, he will find a different means....and that may simply result in fewer casualties or less notoriety.... It is complicated for sure.

once i got out of bethel, i figured i had already given them six of the best years of my life (ages 18-24) working as a slave/drone in their factory, so i rationalized that i had given them enough... so over the next 27 years i would say maybe $200 bucks is it.
i think their whole "voluntary contributions" idea is biting them in the ass, because over all jehovah's witnesses are a cheap group people with a few exceptions.

My husband used to stuff a $20 in the box weekly....i personally was never much on funding them. I needed all my $$$ for personal and family use.

I believe climate change has been going on for millions of years...ages. I do though believe we as keepers of the planet should respect the natural environment and do everything we can to maintain its health and natural beauty. I am against deforestation for greedy corporate profits and I am categorically against wastefulness of earth's economy. I want to see wild animals safe in their natural habitat. I would like arable land to be used to advantage to eliminate the scourge of poverty and malnutrition. Anything that betters the planet..the human population..and the flora and fauna..that is what I am for.

I don't think any were exactly raving beauties....but Michelle Obama takes great precedence as a beautiful caring soul.....brilliant as well. And although a lot of people cannot see past prejudices, Hillary Clinton has intelligence beyond belief! I never thought Jackie O was much more than born into wealth. Her sister Lee was actually prettier. Melania is hard looking...and she always has an unpleasant expression.
As for the men...the Bush two were in their youth very good looking men.

Yeah...I remember the rendezvous...how silly was that one. Colporteurs...company servants...congregation servants...servants became overseers....now generations are who knows what...no one seems to get a grasp on that one. Back in the 70's or maybe early 80's there was a WT about the sheepfold...and a fold within a fold...and who was in which pen...it was complete gobbledygook....I recall the study and the egomaniacal arrogant elder conducting valiantly trying to extract sense from it... They do come up with some pretty bizarre things...

Lot of good thoughts posted. My first thought is that he is only 22 and if raised in the religion has little social experience...communicating via internet is far simpler than face to face for him.....his emotional maturity is likely more like a 14 year old. You express second thoughts...gut feelings...don't ignore them. If you do meet up plan activities...zoo...museum...whatever...keep occupied doing positive things and be objective. This guy has a long way to go I bet...in terms of a positive relationship....
