  what is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?

  we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.

  for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

  long ago and far away in another world....i was out in service with a young married ultra-submissive wife with an over-bearing husband who would write up a list of chores for her to do that day....as if that weren't bad enuf....i remember one that really floored me. she was talking about making the bed before you go out in the morning....well, the reasoning was....that what if the angels came to visit your house while you were out in service and they saw an unmade bed....it would make them sad.

  yeah.....i know.....doesn't sound for real, but trust me it is and i will NEVER forget it.

  another gem came from a kid about 14/15 whose father was a total zero, and mother a total doormat.....this kid was bragging that he couldn't wait to get married to have "someone to boss around". that's the mentality. sad......

  surely the wts knows exactly what it is up to, evidenced by it's spot-on description of it's own tactics, albeit used to misdirect the reader to another conclusion.. .

  is it me or has that long hair been digitally lengthened?

  the longer portion of his hair doesn't even blend with the hair closest to his roots.

  there's the family with a couple little kids, mommie and daddie with the stroller. but behind, sitting on the wall is a little blonde haired girl. she appears unrelated to the family walking by.....no one in their right mind leaves a little blonde 7 or 8 year old sitting alone on a wall in a city park or whatever.....the whole thing is made up and not very realistic at that. the strolller guy would most likely be on the smooth pavement, not the cobblestones, and in real world, you arent going to see the little girl all by her self like that. the chain is over-kill, but you see a lot of weird things out there.....but the witness woman's outfit is just pathetic. why do they think that wearing long ugly skirts differentiates them?

  To all the Elders, Ms, Co etc. out there - Are you accountable for the deception

  if the elders united, rebelled and shut up shop - would it bring down the wt.

  they 'shepherd the flock' - does that make them more accountable than anyone else for the deception and lies and trickery and deceit.. are they all non-believers who are along for the ride ?.

  are they cowardly for taking a stand ?.

  sammieswife is onto it....you cannot just lump them all together and imagine a setting where they all rebel en masse and end it all....they are individuals and serving for varying reasons. a lot are very sincere caring people who truly think they are leading the flock through the malestorm....some are there because they like the idea of being looked up to - gives them a prestige they'd otherwise never find in life...those who know TTATT are the ones that i wonder about. they are being hypocrites - and while they continue in their position thinking they are there for some sort of good, they are actually setting a bad example. they need to take a stand for what is right and what they believe in - that sends out a really strong statement to those inside who are getting sick of the drivel and see through some or a lot of the foolishness.

  truth is reality. it is not a tunnel-visioned religion.

  i don't think it is necessarily true. it depends on the motive of the person endeavoring to convince the other. if you truly care for someone's wellbeing, and you can see that they are making ill decisions that will likely come back to haunt them, you would be remiss not to try to persuade them to change their thinking pattern. that has nothing to do with self - it is borne of love and caring. if though, a person is simply stubbornly argumentative and believes irrationally that he is right and the rest of the world wrong, then that motto can apply.

  by a split second rescuing our handicapped son from being pushed down the stairs by a flood of sisters rushing out to see as the drama had started.. the main offender being a special pioneer..

  fainting in the subway sardine crunch in montreal 1978.......that whole convention was a disaster. it was like 100 degrees and 100% humidity....everyone was dirty, miserable.....

  nyc 1971 i recall pigeons in the rafters sh!tting on people......dodging that was not particularly delightful.....and always those stadium conventions, heat, humidity and people with bad body odors.

  but - as a kid, listening to freddie franz was a positive hoot!
