got the candy for the little trickster treaters....it's fun - they are so cute. that's the extent of it for us, though. although i am very into pumpkins....they speak to me.

Letting go of Highly Qualified Men
by James Jackson ini have been posting for a few months now and have read the life stories of tech49, confusedandalone, winston smith and other brothers who have held prominent positions in the organization who were dismissed not for any gross sins, but mainly for not keeping their child toeing the line.
they have been "cast aside", nit picked to death, and made to feel unworthy for their years of dedicated service.
even in my case, having my best friends treat me like the plague to jockey for position of recogntion.. is this what the organization is resorting to now?

ucantnome - the love of the stage - the need to be looked up to - no - he was a very frustrated man - highly intelligent, and had great teaching abilities - and his only outlet was the KH. he did eventually "step down", but the reality was he was forced to - backed into a corner. he was an alchie.

i personally believe that a man should stand on his own and not be assessed by his family members. we are all individuals - and it is a very unfair position to have a kid who isn't allowed to be a kid and do kid things because it might alter views of his/her parents? i know from life experience that as a child of an elder (long ago, granted) there were things i was not allowed to do specifically because if i were to do them, a couple other bigshots were going to dethrone my father - they wanted to dethrone him anyway, and eventually did - but why make his kid the scapegoat? if he hadn't have been an elder they would have had no problem with my doing what i wanted to do - it never was a totally radical sinful thing, anyway - just normal teenage stuff. they ruin lives.

i think the religion represents a comfort zone for a lot of people. if you think too deeply about it, and you really have some decent observation and thinking skills, you realize that while they may have some basic christianity straight, it is muddled up with so much self-absorption, and there is just too much wrong - like the house of cards it just gives way and there goes the deck flying off in the breeze - and you are through. If you really are through with it, there's no way you want to go back. But if you were never really "in" in the first place and you drift off, it would be easy to go back because being "in" to some doesn't have the significance it does to others - especially those who took it all very seriously and gave their all - and then woke up and realized what it was really all about. that's when the disillusionment really is bothersome and has to be worked through - overcome.
to each his own. if it makes someone happy and that's what they want - fine.....we all come from different backgrounds, have different feelings, and react uniquely...... free moral agency. be what you want to be when and how you want to be it.

of course, there is the july 15, 2011 watchtower: what is involved in avoiding false teachers?
we do not receive them into our homes or greet them.

oh and how can we forget - at christmas time - people say merry christmas to you and you have to say some idiotic thing like "have a nice day
EVERY day"...........same with birthdays.......so stupid. and one that always galled me was the totally hypocritical response when door-to-door and you'd meet a really irate hh and they'd blow you away immediately and you were supposed to smile sweetly and say "have a good day". omg.....i never did it, seriously - it was just tooooooooo much hypocrisy.
