he claimed he usually prayed to God to help keep thoughts of young girls from reaching his heart. However, this time he did not have time to pray.
That is sickening...really sick! But I'm sorry, that last line is freakin funny to me! This pervert didn't have TIME to pray??????

Another question about disfellowshiping
by XPeterX inif the elders decide to disfellowship someone and after being reinstated it is proved that he didn't commit the wrongdoing, what happens then?do the elders apologise to him?.

I know of a brother who was accused of rape! Yes - 2 pioneer sisters went forward to the elders (not the authorities - mind you) and accused this man of taking advantage of them. So he was immediately DF'd, lost his MS status, etc. He was DF'd for 2yrs...after NUMEROUS letters of reinstatement. By the 3rd yr, they reinstated him...only to find out that the 2 pioneers had LIED. They actually both had been dating him (at the same time) and in order to get 'back' at him for THEIR feeling slighted - they concocted this rape story and ran with it! Sadly, this guy NEVER recieved an apology...they labeled it an 'ooops' and claimed that Jehovah had brought the situation to light!

Conventions And Recommended Hotels
by Bangalore inwhy does the society make a list of recommended hotels for convention goers?
do they have business deals with these hotels that they do not tell the rank and file?.
bangalore.

The society would raise a big stink over JWs staying at 'unapproved hotels' because apparently that made things harder the NEXT year with the 'approved' hotels as people would stay wherever they wanted and PAY the full rate - giving the hotels the upper hand.
I'm sorry but nobody is going to tell me where I lay my head at night - shoot!!!

At a loss what to do RE: JW family and my kids
by 2pink ini have 2 small kids, ages 4 and 5 yrs and one on the way (via adoption!).
my husband and i faded/suddenly disappeared last fall, never to go back to meetings.
we outed ourselves and told our super hardcore parents/family members that we didn't believe it anymore, were choosing a different path etc.

Hi!
As I see it (and I'm not a parent) but I feel since YOU are the parent YOU need to dictate the limits of contact your children can have with their gp's. You have ever right to curb the conversations they CAN have with YOUR children! But remember, JWs are taught that no matter the circumstance, 'preaching' about Jehovah (informally also) is their duty - despite laws and regulations. SO, whether or not you tell them that they can see your kids as long as NO biblical discussions take place, prepare yourself for them to at LEAST slip in some teacihngs here and there...it's just what they do.

Most JW's are Concerned with Position/Appearance - Not Serving God
by flipper inbeing raised in the jehovah's witnesses for 44 years ( exited 7 years ago ) - i observed many different variables that made each witness tick or operate.
but one of the most common variables was witnesses wanting to excel in progressing to positions becoming elders, ministerial servants, or pioneers because then and only then would they be looked at as allegedly " spiritual " or closer to jehovah.
but i learned as years went by that having a " position " in the congregation didn't make a person anymore " spiritual " or closer to god than witnesses who were not in appointed positions.. myself- having been appointed a ministerial servant at the tender baby age of 20 yrs.

I feel SO bad for the 'brothers' that got pushed into a position of service...cause it was as if it didn't MATTER how much they already WERE doing - they were expected to WANT to do more (thought worship was about quality - NOT quantity???hhhmmm...). The minute you hit 19yrs old, you are supposed to be an example and put on a 'dog-n-pony' show for the powers that be so that THEY deem you worthy enough to read announcements???!!! UGH.
Now in the case of us sisters - NOOOOOOOT much to look forward to. Either you pioneer or you strive to marry a pioneer/MS/elder/Bethelite. That's it!!! For as negative as WBTS claims to be against religious titles, it seems they LIVE a different way...cause without a title, you're nothing. I will never forget: I was about 22yrs old, lived at home with my parents, had a good FT job and went to college at night. This bunch of Bethelites 'visit' my cong one Sun, and being 5'10" I'm pretty hard to miss...so after the mtg all the olders sister (and my mom) make this FUSS about how these Bethelites were all so nice looking and were looking in my direction. Eventually the guys come over to meet me, and after we all exchange names and they inadvertently tell me what they do at Bethel, the VERY NEXT QUESTION was..."so are you a pioneer?" When I said no, he goes "is that something you want to do at sometime?" That dude brought the Black outta me cause I looked the one dead in his face and replied, "No. I'm actually working FT and going to school so that I can support myself. Besides I LIKE having my own money. What about you? Do you REALLY enjoy serving food all day or is getting a REAL job something you want to do at some time?" The LOOK on their faces was priceless! My mom was very upset with me for saying what I did...but so what. The superiority some JWs have over being an MS/elder/Bethelite is for show - and makes them feel like 'something'...when in actuality, in the REAL world, they are nobody's.

What is the point of praying?
by hoggieman inhi, i dont post here too often, but i was reading the other post about why bad things happen, and i am curious for everyones thoughts on this: i have recently left about 9 months ago.
at first i thought i was closer to god and was reading the bible more than ever.... praying asking for help, clarity, etc.....but after a while i started to ask myself why would god answer my messily little prayers when hundreds of thousands were dieing in haiti?
the witness mindset that i remember was not to pray for things to happen, but for strength for yourself to do something.

babygirl30
Ya know, that has been something I have thought about for a long time myself!! The direction on prayer was always so confusing to
At one meeting, Jehovah hears ALL prayers - at another, he doesn't HEAR the prayers of the those who sin - at yet another meeting, there are stories of ho's/drug dealers/murderers who out of nowhere PRAYED and God answered them????
A DF'd person is told they are 'dead' to Jehovah and his organization - no longer receiving his Holy Spirit - but then the org teaches that as a loving God, Jehovah uses his Holy Spirit to discipline those he LOVES (the reasoning behind being DF'd) - and so in order to be reinstated, you must pray to receive Holy Spirit again????
Do you get what I mean about how some of it is just so confusing? Those stupid stories of how some lazy arse pioneer prayed for a car, and out of nowhere some brother GIVES her a car free of charge...those just flat out make me laugh. Seriously, come on now. What they forget to tell you is that the brother who gave the pioneer his car was 'pumping' HER (instead of the gas)! -hahahahaha

Tempur - pedic mattresses
by linp24 infolks, do you own a tempur pedic mattress?
if you do, are you satisfied with it?
how bout a sleep number bed?.
-
babygirl30
I adore my Tempur-pedic mattress!!! ONLY complaint I would have is it holds your BODY HEAT like a mutha!! I have put 2 covers on it, and it's STILL 'hot'. From what was explained to me, the foam has oils in it and those oils are what stay warm and hold heat....
But all-in-all, I love the thing.

SO sad! The elders never cease to amaze me...
by babygirl30 inon fb yesterday, an old friend of mine 'friended' me....and once again, i was hesitant to actually accept because i didn't know how she would feel about me being df'd.
but i accepted, and she sent me a msg.
well we ended up talking back and forth for awhile, and found out that she lives right around the corner from me!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I tell ANYONE I know that is 'doing their own thing' to NEVER EVER confess to the elders!!! Back in the day, being a born-in, I was TOLD that being faithful and a good lil JW was to tell...on yourself and others in cases of sin. If not, I would be held 'bloodguilty'. But the older I got, the more I began to figure out that it didn't feel RIGHT to judge others that way! I didn't like being responsible for someone ELSES choices, that's not fair at all!!! And now as an adult, I fail to see how anyone is required to 'answer to' MEN in a Khall for anything...they don't pay my bills, buy me clothes, put food on my table, or take CARE of me - so what right do they have to judge me and what choices I make? NONE. So now, i tell folks to just keep it between you and God.
