  hi all, its time i stopped lurking around here.

  i've been posting at jws for just over a year, i know a few names here and it looks like there is lots of good banter going on.. i am a second generation, born-in who grew up in west-central scotland.

  i pioneered in edinburgh and later married and settled in berwick just south of the border.

  Dear Flipper, due to our time difference (I must be 8 to 11 hours ahead of you), I'm often asleep while you are posting, so it's just now that I've logged in and seen your last post. I immediately went to "Active topics", as far back as page 8280, and didn't see the thread you mentioned. Are my eyes tricking me? How annoying! Thanks for trying, anyway. I appreciate it very much.

  Did You Feel Let Down By Jehovah & The "Brothers"?

  did you find yourself disappointed in your life as a jehovah's witness?.

  Contrary to Truthseekerian, none of the individual brothers or sisters ever disappointed me, but Jehovah did. He'd been the most important person in my life, the friend I thought would never fail, but when my faith began to weaken and I prayed for two solid years, many prayers a day, that He would restore my faith, while I remained as involved as ever in spiritual activities, He didn't answer my prayers. I couldn't understand why. I felt so let down...

  As I see it now, maybe He doesn't exist, or He doesn't care or He's not so powerful or He's dead or... who knows? But He's still very, very dear to me...

  I just spoke with my sister on the phone and she told me the meeting was interrupted to send everybody home before the snow intercepted their cars on the way home (that's historical. Never heard something like that has happened before). It's snowing all over Spain and many roads are getting collapsed. That's all the TV news seem to be talking about at the moment. My brother has just ridden his "quad" (I hope it's the same word in English) all the way along the highway (it's forbidden, but the police don't seem to mind today) from downtown Madrid to where we live (about 18 km. away) to "rescue" his girlfriend who was lost, stuck and nervous in some road while other cars kept skidding off and getting stuck. He's made it. We are definitely not used to that in this country.

  i wonder if everyone here who has kept up with me since i left jw's realize why i have been coming on here.

  it certainly has been cool to know that some of my experiences and opinions have helped some.

  i hope they know that i have been equally helped by others.. i come here primarily for me.
