Not Sure What To Do....HELP!!!!!
by lostinnj83 inhello..i have been lurking for quite some time and am finally ready to make my first post!.
i was raised a witness and am still "active" in the congregation and am married to husband who is also and have been having some doubts for some time and voiced some of them to my husband a few months back and he immediatly called the elders who provided a sheparding call.
doubts were mainly on the harshness of the disfellowshipping and the blood issue.

What hope is there then?
by sayitsnotso inif jws don't have the truth; if there is no paradise earth; if there is no end of this system; if death is all there is, then what hope do we have to look forward too?.

Mad Sweeney, I've thoroughly enjoyed your post #1765.
PSacramento: "I didn't believe it either, not until I had no choice but to believe it". I'd love to know the story behind those words...
Leavingwt: I think you are very right about the order of questions. I'd even ask another one in between: 1. Is the Watchtower God's organization or the only true religion? 2. Is the Bible really God's word (exactly the title of a little green book dating back... 30 years ago?)? 3. Does God exist? At least that ¡s the order in which, in my case, the answers followed one another in logical succession (well, I'm still stuck on the third).

Sayitsnoso, I'm sure you'll receive lots of more articulate answers to your last post than mine, but I'll say this anyway: of course you can have all those things you have mentioned while at the same time being a JW in good standing, but even if there was one possibility left in my mind that what the Witnesses believe could be true, I REFUSE TO SERVE A GOD THAT DOESN'T EMBRACE THE WHOLE HUMANITY INTO EVERYLASTING LIFE IN PARADISE (and believe me, I've loved Jehovah with all my heart, soul, mind and strength for 45 years, until, for a reason I can't fathom yet, I woke up from my dream. Why it didn't occur to me before, I don't have the slightest idea...).

Cult classic, wow! You must have got all A's when you had to work on "Illustrations adapted to the material" (however that's translated into English) at the Theocratic School!

Cult classic, what a beautiful illustration! I had never heard it before.
Aussie Oz: "living for the future destroys living for now". How right you are! How beautifully summarized!
Cognizant dissident, unbeatable philosophy!

What Must Be the Case if Christianity is True?
by leavingwt injohn loftus:.
what must be the case if christianity is true?.
that the highest created being, known as satan or the devil, led an angelic rebellion against an omnipotent omniscient omnibenelovent omnipresent god, and expected to win--which makes satan out to be pure evil and dumber than a box of rocks.. .

What a simple and overwhelming poing, Leavingwt! Why hadn't I heard it before? It absolutely makes no sense for Satan to start his rebellion...

I absolutely agree with you, Leavingwt. I strongly believe that whatever future there is, it will be for all humans (or nearly) that have lived and are living on this planet.

Snowbird, I just LOVE your translation of the Bible! I've meant to tell you many times. The scriptures really come to life! I know you've mentioned it before, but could you repeat what version that is?

Yes, Leavingwt. By the word afterlife I meant anything humans can long for (including your virgins, if that's what makes you happy, JWoods. Ha, ha...). I wish Santa Claus existed as well... So the question is: Would any of you say NO to an afterlife if you had the option? I don't suppose any human being would reject to continue to live in whatever paradise, heaven or nirvana comes to our mind. So, let's face it, we do a little like the fox and the grapes (is that fable well known in the States, or just a Spanish thing?).
