FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LEFT THE TRUTH?
by lgadsden injehovahs day comes at this moment and u realize u were in the right place but because of leaving you are now doomed.

I am with snowbird, that is never going to happen.
The WT organization is a false prophet and was apostate from its very beginning. Also just want to point out that most ex jws I know did not leave because they wanted to get more enjoyment out of life. That is a WT claim that they continually make to make people who leave the org seem shallow.
People leave the WT for a myriad of reasons including, reconizing the WT is false, not seeing any love shown to them or their families, the endlessly being told you are not good enough, or that you are not doing enough, and there are many other reasons too.
I left because Jesus Christ called me out of that false religion, because he had something better in store for me than being a WT slave the rest of my life. Peace, Lilly

Community Service - why looked down on when it was so encouraged by Jesus
by insearchoftruth inmy wife yesterday was talking about how useless it really is to feed the hungry and provide cold weather shelters since the problem will not go away until the 'new system of things'.. i know that at one time jesus does state that there will be poor always, but a key aspect of his ministry on earth was helping the less fortunate.
how does the wts justify the discouragement of its rank and file from performing acts of community service, when the 'greatest man who ever lived' was so active in it?.

Many times when my husband and I were out in service, we met people who needed material things such as money to pay for their heating oil, warm clothes for their kids, or groceries. And we helped all these people out of our own pocket. One time when we did this, some nosey sisters in our hall (Hingham MA) actually had the nerve to ask me what my family was doing for the friends in the truth?
Apparently they felt it was improper to give to those who were "worldly" when there was a need in the congregation. I told her how my family gave lots of $$$ and time to the WT, gave work to brothers who needed it to support their family, even those these "brothers" charged 2x as much as the "worldly" people for the same work. In addtion we have widows and orphans over for dinner continually, send meals over to the sick and grieving friends and do much more than that too.
Even with this being said, I was scolded and told I needed to get my priorities straight. I came to believe after that, the reason they reacted that way is most of the JW's do not love people unconditionally and this is the way the WT has trained them. And the WT has also trained them to literally hate people in the world, when that is another teaching directly contradicting Christ.
Jeff,
I agree with you 100%. Just want to point out though the only reason I mentioned Jesus' words about service to others in this thread is because the WT claims to be a christian organization. And yet, they continually prove false to that.
I did not want to give the impression that I think ONLY Christians give to others. Also, I want to clarify that most Christians (myself included) do not give just because of Christ's words or because we feel obligated to, because we are Christians. We mostly give because of our love for others, which for believers partly springs from the spirit of God dwelling in us. The other part of me learned to be giving to others because that is simply the way my parents brought me up.
Peace, Lilly

Matthew 25:44-46 (Amplified Bible Version)
44 Then they also [in their turn] will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
45 And He will reply to them, Solemnly I declare to you, in so far as you failed to do it for the least (in the estimation of men) of these, you failed to do it for Me.
46 Then they will go away into eternal punishment, but those who are just and upright and in right standing with God into eternal life.
Yes the church of Christ is supposed to be involved in community service and this is just not preaching. We are to feed the hungry, provide shelter for the needy, help those who are ill, etc. in imitation to the example our Lord set for us. Peace, Lilly

I think I was clear on my position, lots of suffering is our own fault but some are natural disasters, unforseen occurances, etc. Man is Lord of the earth and we need to help our fellow man. God expects the church to outreach to the world in addition to preaching the Ministry of Reconcilliation. Which literally means God is reconciling all things back to himself. He has already set his plan in motion, sent his son which was a display of his love for us (John 3:16) and this life is temporary only as we are awaiting a new heavens and new earth.
In the meantime, yes we have to endure suffering for many reasons. The answers are in the bible and you can pray for the Spirit to help you understand it.
I am not going to keep going around in circles so happyguy, I think you have to go back and reread my posts. You are still twisting everything I am saying. This is my last post on this, maybe someone else can weigh in on the topic because this is too busy a week for me to be tied to the computer all day.
Peace to all, Lilly
P.S. Igadsden, I agree with you and snowbird.

startingover,
I do not do good things out of fear. I do them from the goodness of my heart. I also do them because I do believe in Jesus and I take seriously that he said we must "Love our nieghbor as ourselves" and our neighbors really are the entire world.
I agree that you do not have to be a Christian to do good for others. I admire people like the Dalai Lama as well as Ghandi. I do not feel God only approves of Christian people. The Bible is clear that God is not partial but accepts all those who are righteous and do what is good.
Have a great Holiday. Lilly
Mad Dawg,
I enjoyed your comments.

Some people do not just read about God in a book.
One Native American told a Christian Missionary "your people read about God in the pages of a book, But my people experience God in the wind, in the rain and in all of nature".
I think even when God is seemingly silent, he is speaking to us through all his creations. Peace, Lilly

I gotcha Happy guy. You are right, I did not really know about this illness. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Maybe I can help in some way.
According to the WHO, they have already helped millions of people by dispensing medication for this disease. Also there are many charities trying to help. I think more people should get involved because it is a shame that little children have to go blind for something that is totally preventable and that mankind has already invented medications to treat. By saying this I am not blaming Man for the problem but we can prevent this. This is a preventable problem if we put our resources together. God does not have to do anything about this specific problem because we can do it ourselves. That is what our responsibility is being made "Lord of the earth, and having everything in subjection under us" means.
I guess I am not the type of Christians like the JWs anymore who sit by and wait, and wait and wait on God to come down here and solve all the ills of mankind. I believe WE have to solve many of the problems we have ourselves. To be a Christian to me means to be active in the world doing good for people. We do not sit idly back and give lip service only. As ambassadors of Christ he expects much of us and will ask an accounting when he returns. he will ask what we did "for the least of these my brothers", while he was gone. This means all people in the world. Did we give them when they were hungry, thirsty or in need in other ways? If not, then it is like we did the same to Christ.
Nice talking with you. I have to go off to work now and will be busy this week for the holiday. Have a great one. Next time I will take my time reading the posts better. Lilly

"idiotic statements", so who continues to insult who? I think my BA in business Managment took care of my reading comprehension, but thanks for your concern.
Just so you know I looked up information about "river blindness" and apparently the World Health Organization has the problem under control. Millions have been helped by this organization who distributes medication to help with black fly disease. Here is a link you may find interesting on the subject http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/onchocerciasis/factsht_onchocerciasis.htm
Also if you google "Christians help with river blindness" you will find thousands of programs run by Christians who are giving their time and financial assistance to support programs that assist people with medications for river blindness. If you read my earlier posts you will see that one way God helps people today is by moving his Church to be active in the world. We are Ambassadors of Christ, The light of the world and we are sent out to do good to all people.
Since you are not an athiest, maybe you can join efforts with some of these charities and God can work through you too?
