15 kinds of wimmen - which are you?
by Satanus in1. miss feminist .
this woman postulates that all the ills of society are orchestrated by men and the best thing a man can do to improve himself is cut off his testicles and grow a pair of ovaries.
she believes that women are angelic creatures who would make the world a utopia if only the male "patriarchy" would allow them to.

Were You Joyful When A Meeting Had To Be Canceled?
by minimus ini was never thrilled to have a meeting during inclement weather.
if it was seriously snowing and the weatherman suggested to stay in because of the conditions, i rarely went to the meeting.
why take a chance, right?

Yes, I loved it when the meeting got cancelled in winter weather. I hated bundling my kids up and taking them out of the nice warm house to go to the meeting. Here in Boston area it gets very cold in winter. So staying home was a treat. We would have hot cocoa and watch a disney movie with the kids. A great family time. Because it can get so bad here, in winter we usually had 2 or 3 cancellations.
In fact we are having a snow storm outside right now. Will turn to rain later though.

What's with JW's and X-mas lights?..........
by awildflower ini mean i remember growing up as a jw and then 15 baptized adults years, and every year all the jw's would say something to the effect, "lets go look at all the pretty lights", or they would tell their neighbors that they really liked their lights.
and i remember teaching my kids the same thing, that it's ok to look at the lights (but not ok to like anything else about x-mas, oh regrets!
) doesn't that seem weird or something?

In one hall I was in most of the members were not born into the org and celebrated Christmas during their childhood. These are the ones that enjoyed looking at Christmas lights. My husband and I used to drive around with our kids and look at them and we knew others that did so too.
The next hall I was in were mostly raised in the org. and these are the ones who were afraid to even look at the lights for fear of being struck dead instantly by jehovah.
Its funny my husband and I were just discussing this very topic last night. We put our lights up this past weekend and I love turning them on as soon as it gets dark. I hope some of my old "friends" do service on our block so they can see our pretty lights, hee, hee.

I find it illogical for people to believe in "Religion"
by sinis ini just don't understand.
i was raised a jw, believed the whole line of bullshit, hook, line, and sinker.
after leaving i still believed in the bible.

Sinis,
I have just 2 Q's for you if you don't mind;
Are you saying you do not believe there is both good and evil in this world?
If there is good and evil, how did man first come to know the difference?
Thanks, Lilly

There's A Ghost At My Place Of Employment
by finallysomepride inok some of you will laugh at this, but it's true, there is a spirit that haunts the premises where i work.. it has spoken to me once when i was locking up, it was 1 single word "hello", i looked around and saw nothing, i ignored it, set the alarm locked the door & went home.
other times i have felt something brush passed me as i have entered the building early in the morning.
the experience that got to me most happened the other nite when i was called back to the store by security, as i pulled into the drive way there was a man standing at the rear of the building, in the split second of looking away he dissapeared, there's no way that he could have run off the property in that split second.. what do you think?.

hemp,
I will let you know what is in the attic. And No I have never thought my son was hurt when he was not. I was always on the money with that. I have had this sixth sense thing since I was a kid. It saved my life once when I was 19 years old. (am 40 now). The one time I did not follow my instinct I was in a serious accident. I had an overwelming feeling not to get in the car but I had to go to work. Had a patient waiting for me to take care of her, I was doing hospice work at the time.
The weather was bad, snowy with heavy wind and icy. I drove for more than 12 years doing home visits in New England weather and never had any fear of it because I am a very good driver. But this particular day I did not want to leave my house. Came close to calling out but noone else would have been able to get to my patient in time. Turns out, I didn't make it either. I only drove around the corner, about 1/2 block when I had stopped behind a bus. All of a sudden I heard a giant crash from behind and my mini van was pushed straight on into the back of the bus.
A young driver going too fast for the weather came over a hill and did not see me until it was too late. he could not stop his momentum as he plunged into the back of my car. He was 20 and driving his birthday gift which was a HUGE epedition truck. I was not injured badly, thank Goodness for seatbelts. But my van was totalled. The entire back door fell off and the back seat became the middle seat. I drive a Sienna van. Anyway, that was the only time I did not follow these feelings I get and will be the last time too.
Yes, I heard of Allison Dubois. I saw her on a show once and she said you have to develop this skill and embrace it. I've found the more I do this the better I get at it. I believe she is more physic than I am. Not sure but I feel and sense things that is for sure.
About my house, ever since moving in I do sense that 2 people died here. One is an older man, maybe the one in heavy boots. The other is a small boy. I hear him playing with a ball upstairs sometimes in my room. I believe both these people died in the fire that was in my home. My nieghbor remembers the fire but not if anyone died. I went back about 50 years and could not find anything on either the fire or deaths in my house. Our town keeps very bad records anyway. Have not tried the newpapers yet but will eventually. The thing is I sense that this fire was not the one she remembers but one that happend about 100 years ago when my house used to be a barn.
I'll let everyone know. I am sure when we open the attic we will find old barn beams with fire stains on them. If so I will definately keep them. Lilly

"Autobiography of a Died-Again Christian"
by leavingwt ini enjoyed a number of the points in this essay.
dr. jaco gericke's deconversion story: "autobiography of a 'died-again' christian<snippets>.
it was a little late in the day, however, when i realised that studying theology can be a downright dangerous business for any believer.

I agree with sad emo. I went through a similiar realization about my christian beliefs after leaving the WT especially. however, since I was open to change my previously held beliefs, I was able to keep my faith intact. Many Christians do realize the bible has a lot of allegories not to be taken literal but that they do teach literal truths useful even for our day. For a true fundy, this may be intolerable to deal with and since he cannot view the bible as being anything but totally literal, he is not open to changing his views.
It is sad really for anyone to loose the entirety of their belief system practically overnight, no matter what their belief system is, and then to not have anything to replace it. Kind of what happens to a lot of ex JWs I think. Peace, Lilly

Minimus,
With the amount of disconnect you need to have to remain a JW nowadays, I am sure their eyes were glazed over long before 10:30 am, probably as soon as they rolled out of bed in the morning.

cantleave,
Thank you for your response.
I can't imagine combining 3 meetings into one. That must be one looooooong snooze fest.
For those still in;
10 things you can do with your "free" night supplied by the WT;
1. Take a college Class
2. Work some extra hours for more $$$
3. Spend some time getting to know your worldly family and friends better
5. join us on this forum for real WT instruction
6. Read Crisis of Conscience
7. Read the bible itself in its context
8. Take your kids to see a movie
9. Attend services at another church
10. Do anything else not on this list you always wanted to do
but didn't have time.
Oh and one more thing for family heads, make sure you count your time for all the above. Just think how Jehovah will bless you for all your effort!
Glad to be out.........Peace to all, Lilly

Can someone tell me what Family Worship Night is? Is this something new. I have been out about 7 years now.
Is this in addition to the two week night meetings the book study (now called bible study), and Ministry School/Service Meeting, or does this night replace one of the above? Thanks.
