Which non-JWs exactly get resurructed into the new system?

there seems to be a lot of speculative jw confusion on this.

several jw "rules of thumb" seem to apply -.

1) - if you die "during a judgement period" - i.e., you died post 1914 after hearing the jw message, and did not accept it - you do not get a resurrection.... << but, i believe they qualified this to say that 20th century people (like in red china) that did not hear the jw message might come back >>.

That was always something I wondered about. I asked an elder about it once and was told that, if you lived somewhere where you couldn't possibly have heard the message (I remember him using the remote South Pacific as an example), then you wouldn't be killed at Armageddon or denied resurrection. But if you ever had a Witness talk to you and you ignored the message, then you were toast. Such a cheerful religion!

are you a better neighbor, friend, husband, wife, etc.

i'm much less judgmental of what people do or think.

i'm more tolerant and i think i have real friends that are not as conditional as my jw brethren.. what about you?.

I feel like the "real" me was always in there, just suppressed. So I don't think I'm a better person so much as a more authentic person.

Having eaten their food, I can't imagine how this could possibly be seen as a problem. ;) Though, to answer your question, no, I can't say this is happening in my area (to my knowledge). While I can't imagine that market demand actually necessitates this, we have two in my town that don't seem to be getting closed. If they were to close, my mother would have to give up on her wild craving binges where she finishes off a bucket herself between lunch and dinner...

The ones in our area are getting remodeled and combined with Taco Bell.

That's actually what's happening to our local Pizza Huts. There's also a combination store of all three in a town not too far away from me.

I can only hope that Walgreens and CVS get that message...we're exploding with them, and they're always right across from each other on opposing corners.

I briefly attended a "mega-Hall" with four oversized meeting rooms on three levels, plus the spacious attached CO apartment and a large function room. It was used by five congregations and also as the circuit's special training/meeting location, so that's where PTS, MTS, and other events were held. I made many a sandwich in that kitchen -- the one just for events, not the additional one in the CO's apartment.

We also had an apartment at our Assembly Hall, but that was only used by DO. I don't know if housing DOs is standard, however, and I know my old district doesn't offer housing any longer, unless maybe it's based at different AHs than the one I attended. (Wow, so acronym-y tonight...)

Do 'general' masons, understand what their symbology means?

among them and their associates, almost all are based on faces of cherubs, serpent as the god of healing, many things from solomon's temple.

i know those who continue to make them and use them, must have an idea of what they represent and the reason for them.

i don't know, if the general members have any clue or if they are just in it for their own reasons, the association, benefits, to help others, or to advance their life/career, etc.

As for medical...........LOok at any seal from any organization in pharmacy, in doctors, university. For the most part, the SEALS and the LOGOS are where all this stuff is at. It's easier and easier to tell which ones are mason related.

They're not "Mason-related." They're organizations that happen to use similar emblems that have been incredibly common throughout history. Yes, both the Freemasons and MI5 have pyramids in their symbolism...but there are also pyramids in the logos for AOL, Ameritrade, Delta Airlines, Adidas, Cisco Systems, Avery International Paper, Fidelity Investments, Adobe, your friendly local Avon ladies, the Animal Liberation Front, and the recycling movement. Did the Freemasons also invent the Food Pyramid? Explain to me how a commonality proves a "conspiracy."

The dollar bill has an eye on it...but so does the CBS logo. Do they run that? What about Longines -- does their hourglass logo mean Longines is a "Masonic company," or just that a clockmaker happens to have interest in using a time-keeping device for their logo?

And why don't David Icke and other Mason conspiracy theorists note the frequent usage of non-Masonic symbols? NBC has a peacock for its logo -- do they worship the goddess Hera? Do Playboy and PETA both use a bunny because they perform pagan animal sacrifice? Does MSN's leadership practice Celtic fertility goddess-worship due to their butterfly? Are the Black Liberation Army aligning themselves with FARC and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade because they each use guns? Is Stanford just a front for Cal Poly due to them both having a tree for their university seal? Do the Red Brigade, Subaru, and the New England Patriots have some secret, terrifying affiliation because they all use stars? Most importantly for us sports fans, does Socialist International fix the Rose Bowl due to their shared flower?

Maybe I will make my own conspiracy site about how the Boston Celtics are run by the Irish Parliament and the Archbishop of Dublin due to their shamrock logo. If all we need to prove a conspiracy these days is some shared basic designs that have been used since time immemorial, I think I could make a pretty good case for this.

i recieved this e-mail earlier today after making an issue out of the paedophile problem on my facebook page.

obviously, this person is a jw and someone must have snitched to her.. what did you think?.

I've recieved a response from her saying that it was only fair to hear both sides of the story!!!

Try reminding her of that next time she supports the official WTBTS position of never questioning them or reading anything about them on the Internet.

How to secretly record an elders meeting?

one in which you are present, as if only one party is aware or doing it, it's legal.

is there a fairly inexpensive device can buy which either in a pocket or somewhere discreet can get a good recording of up to 2 - 3 hours?

Keep it in your coat pocket, not your pants. When you sit, you'll press against the recorder and it will muffle. The trade-off is that the bulge will be visible in your coat pocket, so you'll want to get the smallest size possible and also tuck a pen or something in there to make it look like the bulge is from that.

Saying 'grace' at meal times

long before i dad myself in 2003, i used to feel really bad offering up 'grace' prior to eating a meal with family and/or friends.

it felt totally weird.

i never quite understood the concept.

This is so true! I never heard about the pedophilia until I saw it on Dateline! And other than on ex JW sites, had never heard it spoken of. When it was on Dateline I'm sure the average JW didn't believe it, brushing it off as "apostate lies."

When that special aired in...2000 (I think?), my congregation mysteriously had a last-minute special needs talk scheduled for that night. They actually called people around dinnertime to remind us to be there, and then they informally but forcefully invited everyone to an "ice cream night" after the meeting to make sure no one caught the tail end of it at home.

Paranoid much?

(And the talk was about -- you guessed it -- only listening to information from approved, official channels.)
