Ok, I see your point Mulan. Another Awake! around the same time suggested growing your own vegetables to save money so you too can pioneer. Well, it is not making money, but it is working at home.

I remember an Awake! about four or five years ago that suggested starting a cleaning business part-time and then you can go out in service full-time. I like the way the Society thinks, always planning ahead for its followers like you, Yo Yo Mama.

some years ago when i did some reseach on the early history of jw and life of russll i read some quote about the cross and crown symbol.. one of them was about how russells attention was brought to the cross and crown symbol by a fellowbeliver.
i think one qoute was from an early zions watchtower, but i'm not sure.
are there somebody who can help me with this quote?.

i can't recall whether or not i have posted the account of how a brother in havant, hampshire, uk was deliberately blown up in a gas explosion, almost certainly at the hands of his father-in-law, who was also a witness from worthing, also in the uk.. oh yes, i witnessed this with my own eyes too.. if i have already related this, please stop me.. englishman.. bring on the dancing girls!
Is there more to this story? Nothing like a JW being blown up to get me in the holiday mood.

someone i know recently attended one of the kingdom ministry schools for elders.
he indicated that after one session, he approached a speaker and told him how much he enjoyed the man's speech.
the speaker replied, "jehovah's blessing.".

Me: "Brother, I wanted to thank you for a great job on your talk. I learned ________ about it. (I don't remember what it was I learned from it anymore.)

no matter what age you are (in my case fairly young), you've seen gilligan's island, and heard the inevitable argument (especially amoung men), who do you prefer better: ginger or mary anne.. well, i decided to bring the debate here to jw.com, see if there's an (ex) jw consensus on the issue.. my personal favourite is mary anne, by the way.
they were both very attractive, but mary anne's personalty was more down to earth (or naive) to me, and i find that more desirable.

i dont go to meetings anymore!

i have tryed the slow fade but that just seems to make my wife think that i am going to go to every meeting......so i have decided to go cold turkey , and it is hard .

It is very hard to go inactive and stay that way when you have a wife who is active. I don't have experience in that department, because I am not married just yet. My fiancee is not a JW, thank gawd. My advise to you is don't let on to your wife or relatives that you don't plan on going anymore. Shunning will result, and possably a broken marriage. Perhaps moderation is needed, you might have no choice but to go sometimes, just to keep the peace. This was the case with my late father. Before he died, he was constantly harrassing me about going to the Kingdom Hall. The only way I could satisfy him was to go about twice a month, and turn in a couple hours of service time each month. It does not matter if you are ever seen in service, because the elders are either too old or too busy to notice. Finally, try to relax, because the world is not ending. I guarantee tomorrow is just another day, and there is no such thing as this old system, and the new system to come.
