  the witnesses always say they are free in christ, i beg to differ, i don't know how many stupid unscriptural laws they have but lets start a thread on how many dumb witness laws you know and have heard of that make no sense or completely unbelievable, it is like they have a second talmud.

  cant have walt disney movies or stuffed animals as this is magical.

  cant have beards.

  Many of the statements in this thread should be taken with a grain of salt. While some of the restrictions do indeed exist exactly as stated, and many of the things listed are 'frowned upon' by Witnesses, some things that have been listed are not JW rules at all, or are region-specific.

  True, but in many cases, if you refrain from most of the practices listed in this thread, you are considered "more spiritual" and get promoted (if you are a guy that is). Many elders and above are famous for adding on to what the Watchtower puts in writing. When did the Watchtower put in writing that you can't own a Smurf doll, a Care Bear, a My Little Pony, or a Treasure Troll? But at many Kingdom Halls you are frowned upon if you own or give a child these items.

  QUESTIONS FROM READERS----CHECK THIS OUT!

  seeing as i have the wt in front of me today, i thought you'd enjoy the questions from readers from the february 15, 2007 article on the evils and pagan origins on toasting or clinking of glasses.

  the article specifically mentions how not everything today that was of pagan origin is necessarily bad, and sites "wedding rings" as being of pagan origin, but it's not viewed like that now.

  then, incredibly, they go on and say that while toasting might not be considered a religious practice today, there's "good reason" for christians to avoid it------without giving any valid reason why other than: do as we say:.

  They used the same logic to allow a wedding ring, by saying most don't see the religious symbol of them, but see them as a sign of being married. And then say most don't see the religious symbol of toasting, but as christians we can't do that.

  If there is no longer a non-christian signifigance, to it, then what's the big deal. It's a toast, not bowing toward a statue.

  Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?

  is homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?

  my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.

  his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

  Mary, thanks for the scans. If the melatonin works for my sleep, maybe the ginko will help my memory. There is nothing more frustrating that being in mid-sentence and forgetting what I was trying to say.

  JayHawk1..If you get a bad feeling about someone,there is usually good reason for it..Lots of people think they know irodology..They are idiots..I know alot,but I wouldn`t bet somebodys health on it..You have to be trained.....I met so many know-it-alls,that knew nothing.Their products could do everything!..Sometimes they would even challange what I used(both supplements would contain the same ingredients),against the product of the company they represented..I would send it to the lab..LOL!!..Costs a bit,but you get to know what your dealing with...OUTLAW

  You should have seen this woman in action. There was no doubt in my mind she was a quack. She would look in their eyes make what appeared to be guesses. Then they would comment or complain about something else and then she would put that light in their eyes again and agree with them. It would go something like this... Quack, "Looks like you have some spots on your liver. Take 3 of these and two of these every day." Duped JW, "Did you happen to notice what is going on with my left knee?" Quack, "Let's have another look... Oh yes, how did I miss that? Here is just what you need..." Well, off to bed... I've enjoyed the spirited conversation on this thread. Check you tomorrow!

  I admit I know nothing about Iridology. I'm sure if done properly there could be some benefit. But this woman I went to might as well have been wearing a white suit, selling "Grandpa's Fix-All Elixir," from the back of a horse drawn wagon.

  I'm thinking of a Seinfeld. eposide, George goes to a friend of krammer's for his tonsils. It was lol funny.

  The episode where Kramer starts taking pills perscribed by a vet. for a dog, because he found a dog with the same cough as him, was a classic.
