Thanks for cheering me up a bit.
What's bad about all of this, is I almost lost my job too. I work for the same place as my wife did. Instead, I lost my 3 day per week job and now have to be there 5 days per week. Goodbye perfect job.

Well today is my Birthday. And while that is normally a good day for me. This one is not.
Thursday my wife was layed off. So once again, we are back to living paycheck to paycheck. Such is the life of a machinist in this economy where most products are made in China these days and gas costs twice what it did 6 years ago.
So happing f-ing birthday to me.

Jehovah`s Witness`s For Sale!
When I saw this thread title, I though you had some Jehovah's Witnesses for sale. No, I don't want to buy their crummy religion. But if you have a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses for sale, I might be in the market.

What did you think of the CO's bi-annual visit?
by JH indid you think it was a "show", when just about everyone showed up at the kingdom hall when he showed up that week?.
did you go out in the service that week more than usual, just to do like the others who were giving a show?.
the moment the co's week was over, the attendance always came back down to normal..

Could somebody explain why the always switch the meetings around when the CO shows up? At my Kingdom Hall, bookstudy was on Tuesday and School Meeting was on Thursday (it was Friday for years). But when this guy shows up, School Meeting became Tuesday night and bookstudy became Thursday. Why do they all do that?

Is the watchtower in the red or planning for something ?
by 5go init does but doesn't seem to be in trouble monetarialy.. what is going on.
are they ok but seeing the writing on the wall with lawsuit or something else.. or, are they broke and just hiding it..

OnTheWayOut,
Yes, that would open up a hornet's nest of trouble.
So if Jehovah's Witness aren't legally subordinate to Watchtower, how is it Watchtower can get away with telling the JW what to think and do? Sure, they can claim the JW has free will, but we all know what the facts are. Upon baptism, a JW pledges an oath to Watchtower's rules. Obviously that isn't a legally binding contract, is it?
They had most of us duped and continue to have the faithful JW right where they want them.

Wow elsewhere, you could have nailed the exact reason.
The WTS currently says that, legally, Jehover’s Witnesses are not in any way affiliated with or subordinate to the WTS. This means that when each individual JW goes door-to-door selling the publications that JW is acting on his own and is operating his own private business. This in turn means that every single individual JW will be required to legally open a business, get a business tax ID, maintain an accounting ledger and file taxes quarterly at the county, state and federal levels
So why doesn't the Watchtower legally affiliate with Jehovah's Witnesses? Aren't they bound to "God's Orginization" upon baptism? Looks like this is a street that only goes one way.

Here we go again . . . The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
by cruzanheart ini got an email with an audio attachment (haven't listened to it) that's being passed around the witness community.
here's the written part of it anyway:.
i just wanted to let you know about an important piece of information i heard first hand, this morning (actually on a recording of a bethel representative giving a talk at the 2007 special day assembly in houston, tx).

"Locked into Judgement" could refer to the Matthew scriptures that talk about the 10 virgins who ran out of lamp oil. When they returned with filled lamps, the groom came and the virgins was locked out.
Could us apostates be locked out? I hope so!

Perhaps something like this could work...
"Brothers, since 1990 we've enjoyed the privilage of doing Jehovah's work without asking for a specific contribution. We've seen Jehovah's Flock increase from 4.5 million to 6.5 million since that date. As this wicked system draws to a close change is eminent. No longer we are giving a message of hope, but rather our message is one of impending destruction. With that in mind, we're no longer interested in handing out literature to just anybody, but rather we want the literature to go to only sheeplike minded people. So from now on, we will once again be asking for a specific contribution price for all literature except for special tract campaigns like the one coming up (Kingdom News 38 The World Is Ending Soon, Very Soon)."
Meanwhile the microphone handlers begin handing out a price list...
Brother OnTheWayOut snickers, "I have to pay how much for this crappy paperback Bible?"
(Maybe I should become a fiction writer.)

What were your reasons for becoming a JW?
by Narkissos inreasons, not excuses -- even valid ones (like, "i was ignorant, depressed, fooled").. yours in the sense that you can still own (to) them -- even though you now know the "answer" was wrong.. this obviously applies to those who became jws -- hence mostly not born-in, although some of the latter might admit to having chosen the jw way for themselves at a certain stage of their childhood or teenage years.. this question is triggered by a previous conversation with purplesofa on another thread:.
i think most of us that came in and not born in were searching.
our hearts were pure in our search.

What were your reasons for becoming a JW?
Let me sum up my 16 years in the Watchtower.
"Well, the end is near... isn't it? The end is any day now... isn't it? Aww crap, this is a hoax... I'm outta here!"
