Will I go to hell?
by Anony-Mouse ina freind of mine (over the internet) has been debating with me about whether or not i will go to hell.
being the great freind he is, he says i am absolutely bound for hell, simply because i don't believe in god anymore.
john 3:16,17 says something or other about only people believing will be saved or somesuch.

Kinda surprised and disappointed by how many here recommend slipping away with your tail between your legs. The JWs love that. You'd regret it the rest of your life. I say give 'em hell and walk away doing your best John Wayne swagger. You will always be proud of yourself for speaking out. F--- 'em all! (posted by Gregor)
As much as I respect Gregor's opinion. All I ever said was, "No Thanks, I will come back to the Kingdom Hall when I'm ready." This seemed to get my point out without causing anybody trouble. Furthermore, it does not feel like I left with my tail between my legs. I'm out with my head held high, because I'm the bigger person in the Elder's little power trip.
An Elder has not been to my home in almost 7 years since I said that.
Now, if your goal is to get that wonderful little announcement that, "___________ is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses," at the service meeting. Then I say go for it!

Matthew 28:19, 20 "Go therefore ... baptizing them ..."
by AuldSoul injehovah's witnesses teach that matthew 28:19, 20 is a requirement of god for every christian, a command from christ to his followers.
every one of jehovah's witnesses is required to proselytize in order to be considered an active and regular jehovah's witness.. however, these verses also say that the teachers must baptize.
jehovah's witnesses only consider baptisms by organizationally authorized persons to be valid, and only after a person desiring baptism meets the requirements of an unscriptural criteria.. how is it contextually possible that jesus intended the teaching to be carried by individuals and the baptizing to be performed organizationally?

The JW leadership would argue the reason all JWs don't baptize is so "pure religion" can be maintained. If all JWs could baptize and do so whenever they wanted, there would be a bunch of unqualified Watchtower sales people. We can't have that, now can we?

My Life after Bethel part 3
by new boy inwe started attending the wakefield r.i. kh after the marriage.
at the first meeting i went to, "buddy" weber came up to greet me.
he had left a very good job in seattle (he had his own radio talk show) and was now a janitor, living were the need was greatest, at the time r.i had the worst publisher to normal people ratio in the counrty 1 to 1600. i'm just standing there listening to him as he is giving me the "what he has done for jehovah story" what his "spiritual credentials" are, how wonderful his kids are, were they were pioneering, how he had givien up a good job so he could serve the lord my cleaning windows in rhode island............because the end was coming soon in 1975, just a few months away blah blah.......blah.......it reminded me, so much how the jws love to martyr themselfs and how much they say "we are all equal".......but on the other hand, they love poistions, that deep down inside they believe that some are really better then others and that they are working there way into the "new system".

... and I thought life during bethel was interesting... the after bethel experiences are fantastic too... this series has been excellent! The Salina JWs sound just as uptight as the El Dorado Kansas JWs.

They could tighten up on what a JW reads. Who needs all those "worldly" books when you can read the Revelation Grand Climax book over and over again!

The only thing of note no one is to talk to inactive ones
If this is how they are to act, they are that much closer to being a Jonestown or Heavensgate Cult.

Will we see the GB replace 1914 with a new date in the next 30 years?
by nvrgnbk inray franz mentioned in crisis of conscience that in 1980 schroeder, klein, and suiter proposed changing the start of "this generation" from 1914 to 1957. as the "this generation" doctrine has since mysteriously morphed any date associated with it is moot.
however, as time marches on without the developments anticipated by the gb may they again pick a new year, this time for the invisible enthronement of christ, in an attempt to buy time and regain credibility?
what dates or historical events would be likely choices?

It would be shocking it they changed 1914 to a new date.
But if they did change the date, there would be people to believe the new date is just an adjustment by Jehovah to a newer light.

Those Jws and their strict policy of not resorting to violence. Darn them from keeping that young man from joining a sport that consists of smashing the opponents face in with your fists. How dare them control his mind by pounding in Christ teachings concerning how we treat others! Those wicked, wicked people. Thank God he is free from there benevolent influence, now he can do what he enjoys....beating the crap out of people in the ring!
Now that... is funny! I'd rather see a young man cultivate an interest in music into a career, much like a (one hit wonder) hack like Prince, than to beat on other people for money. But, whatever, its not like the people he is beating on didn't want to be beat on.

A question for all Whisky drinkers.
by lfcviking inhello chumz on the board.
nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?
i am not trying to stir up nationalism with this question but am just genuinely curious.. lfcv.

Thanasi Foods Introduces Jim Beam Kentucky Bourbon Soaked Sunflower Seeds
Thanasi Foods has launched Jim Beam Original Kentucky Bourbon Soaked Sunflower Seeds, a new premium snack food product. The product, available in retail outlets nationwide, is the first to bring the flavor of bourbon to the premium snack segment. The seeds are soaked in Jim Beam prior to roasting in order to obtain the unmistakable flavor of quality bourbon, giving the seeds a slightly sweet and smoky flavor. Jim Beam provides only a flavor element, much like cooking with wine or beer, and there is virtually no remaining alcohol content in the sunflower seeds, according to Justin Havlick, President and CEO of Thanasi Foods.
