i just wanted to thank everyone.
i used to study with a jw and i would come to this site (against her wishes) and ask dumb questions, and you would answer and give me something to think about.
i was sure the lady i was studying with was my friend and out to help me.

i'm curious to know if this dateline story is going to be an hour long or will it be a 20 minute story as some of their news items are?

Thanks for the info. I did not see your first thread, because I have not been online the last few days. Keep that in mind too. Only now have I started to have a "life" and I don't need this board like I once did.

if i were benevolent dictator of the u.s., i would:.
give tax incentives to those who want to run their own small business.
make abortion illegal except for rape or incest.
To TR the benevolent dictator of the U.S.,
I would like to lobby for the following.
Make abortion legal, period.
Tax incentives for pornography and sex shops.
Legalize prostitution.
Sex education and condoms for all. (these words should replace "With liberty and justice for all" in the pledge of allegiance to the flag)

"long time passing".. children in the witness community here in oz seem to be disappearing.. there was a time when each congregation could expect to count new publishers each year from the children growing up in witness families.
say 1 or 2 in an average 100 publisher congregation.
Although I do not have the numbers to back it up like you do, the same can be said for here in the middle of the U.S.A. I know for a fact that the Elders had a sort of "pep rally" to get the younger men interested in "reaching out" for positions in the Congregation.
They just can't find the young men around here to take the lead. The young men are too busy trying to provide for their families. And what little time they have left is for recreation, not JW activities. Before I left for good, the Elders were even begging me to shave my beard so they could use me. My response was, "It is your problem if you can't use me with a beard."
Shame of it is the average age of Elders around here has got to be 55 or older. In the local Congregation they have 1 in his mid 80s, 3 in their mid 70s, 3 in their 60s, 1 in his 50s, and 1 who is about 40 years old.
Not too good for them.

there is alot of things that i want to say but you know that jesus said in matt 24:9-11 that you would hate his faithful ones ,but to be honest with you ,we don't hate you ,cause in matt 5;1-9 says that we will be hated,so since we all know that ,than it is a pleasure that you talk about us.and other thing that i want to say is that people in the world thinks that we are crazy ,but if you would read the old testament than you will know that the jews were to serpart themselves from the other nations and that is how jehovah's witness fell about it,see when the jews would be around other nations than they would forget jehovah and they would worship other gods.when they do that ,it would cost them their lives.so it is good that you are talking about us and i would like for you to continue to do so .why?

those of us who have previously spent years and even decades reading and studying wts materials regarding the "beasts" of bible prophecy and how "false religion" has supported such know full well the wts's habit of slicing and dicing quotes so as to make it appear that "christendom" has turned their back on god in favor of world governments and especially the united nations.
in the july 8, 1996 awake, pages 22-25, an article entitled, the pope's un visit _ what did it accomplish?, criticizes the pope's visit and speech to the un during its' october 1995 50th anniversary celebration.
typically, the article begins with sliced/diced quotes which "seem" to "prove" the wts's historic proposition that, although well-intentioned, christendom's faith has been misplaced in man himself, and the un.
The funny thing for me is I trusted what the pope said more than I trusted the GB when I was still a JW.
Great article Mad Apostate. Just another example among many what kind of hachet job the society does to quotes, just to prove their story. They will take anything a person says, and use it to their own advantage. I mean how many times in the magizines have we seen, "blah blah blah blah...blah blah blah." Every time I see those three dots, I know the hachet has hacked out the part they don't want the average JW to see.

Then next year, when it is time for him to pay up he will make some sort of online excuse and beg out of his bet with me. You Know, I have been reading your posts for about two years. I have only been posting for about 7 or 8 months, and I have a bet for you.
If at this time next year, the internet is still up, Wall Street is still opening its marketplace and the United States still exists, then you must admit that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society claimed to be God's chosen prophet.
If these things cease to exist, then I will admit that the Society and you were right.
