do you find that years after leaving the jws birthdays just don't matter?.

i just can't get into it.

in years past the inlaws have made an effort and given a little party but now we are out country its just not a big enough deal to be bothered with.. no presents, no cake.

I get what you are saying. On the one hand I'd like to celebrate my birthday too (it's coming up soon) but all those years of not celebrating has left it's mark upon me. On the other hand I feel like "what's the point?" I don't have any kids so I usually celebrate my friend's kids birthdays with them. I haven't even gotten a b-day present in over a decade. Just another day.

But seriously I had to get rid of my Gene Simmons solo album circa 1978 because of this cover and first track. (my mom bought it for me when I was a kid)

Interestingly enough in our congregation it was told straight forward (so I was told by an elder) in an Awake! article (I think) that no one had the right to tell you what sort of music you could and could not listen to. I knew a married pioneer couple who listened to heavy metal all the time (except in FS).

some tried to impose their "bible trained consciences" on everyone.

or the pushy ones would go from house to house and argue with the householder!

Nope, not pushy at all. If people didn't want to hear what I had to say I went on my merry way and didn't give it a second thought. Never understood those who condemened householders who wouldn't listen. I mean who are we to judge anyone else? We could be wrong.

I just can't do this anymore

for years now after my exit from the wtbts i have searched for god.

as i have previously mentioned in other threads i looked into many other religions, including druidry, zen and tibetan buddhism (not really a religion), asatru, native american shamanism, kemetic orthodoxy, gnosticism and pandeism.

@ Dario I already subscribe to the Thinking Atheist and have had quite a few rabid conversations back in the day with that guy. LOL

I also subscribe to stevebee92563 a retired dentist with plenty of schooling in other fields (unlike most youtube channels which just quote other people's works). He thinks Intelligent Design has it's merits but he's not religious at all. Some say it's a contradiction, not me though. he just accepts that there are some things that he doesn't know. I like that.
