The "Flood" is a perfect scape-goat for anything difficult to explain.

1/1/11 WT Using One Myth to Support Another
by WalkTall ini thought this was pretty hysterical and something that i would have never noticed before i woke up.
in the jan 1 wt under the heading 'was the garden of eden a real place?
part of the reasoning they use as to why no one could find the garden of eden even though there are specifics in genesis identifying it's location is because "the flood of noah's day may have altered the topography in ways that we simply cannot know today".

A Worldwide Flood—What Does It Mean to You?
“There is one significant fact that is always connected with every dinosaur fossil and every mammoth fossil, and that is that every fossil is almost invariably dug out of water-laid sedimentary rock. Every fossil is either dug out of shale, which is just floodwater mud hardened into rock, or out of floodwater sand hardened into sandstone, or frozen into permafrost.”
Target: Earth notes with regard to the Yukon district of North America: “The presence of bones, trees, peat, and other debris all mixed together down to a depth of nearly 100 feet, points to a cataclysmic flood of tremendous proportions that must have moved across the land, grinding the bodies of the animals with stones and trees and spreading the whole out over the Yukon Valley.”
So who is Target Eart, could they have an agenda?
From their website...http://www.targetearth.org/about/about_main.html
Target Earth is a national movement of Christians who reflect this commitment to care. It's a movement of individuals, churches, college fellowships and Christian ministries motivated by the biblical call to be faithful stewards of everything God created-to love our neighbors as ourselves and to care for the earth.
One more reason not to attribute your resource.

Is this Loaded Language in the 2011 Calendar?
by maninthemiddle ini think it could be fair to say, that if paul spoke for jesus, then "revealed truth" could be a valid description since the scriptures say he visited them several times, but i think the loaded language comes in when you try to apply this to modern times, (wts a modern paul?).
i see this as trying to mold the first century to fit the current wts/jws.
what do you think?.

LOL Outlaw!!!
Yes, this is from the 2011 Calendar. I took the picture with my cell phone, sorry the quality is not better, I would have liked to get the whole page but my mother doesn't have a scanner.
And as someone already mentioned the door-to-door picture is from the new "faith in action" dvd.

That's what Satan wants you to think..........
by Vachi 8 He Is inwell what about what the gibbering body wants you to think?
if you have your copy of the december 2010 asleep magazine entitled "the truth about christmas" i invite you to take a look at the subliminal messaging in the picture on page 7. if someone could scan it into this thread that would help too, but i'll be descriptive about what the picture entails.
setting: 8 people in an office building at a christmas party.

I think it is the goatee on Mr green shirt that is the cause of all the debauchery in the room.

3. The channel has the same direct line to God that the apostles had, YOU WILL RESPECT THEIR AUTHORITY
This I think is the most damning of all. I still see so much of them trying to put them selves in the place of Paul, or projecting them on the first century christians, example:

The Watchtower has never been able to prove that an apostate is an apostate??
by Joliette injust wondering, other than (so called) biblical proof.. no documented proof, recorded proof?.
-

which was a mistake because I then demonstrated what an apostate is
Thanks for the laugh, somedays, I feel the same way, just waiting for someone to say the wrong thing to me.

Curious Confused: Can you Answer this
by truthlover inwelcome to the board -- it does have a lot of good information on it with a lot of sincere people, i mostly sit and read the comments, dont make a lot of comments... however,.
one question i have, since the new elders book has been released, i was wondering why the term "brazen conduct" is now being used - is it to narrow down pubs actions so that they are in more of a corner as to why they did what they did when in front of a jc??
would that not allow for more df's??
-
maninthemiddle
curiousconfused, I have to agree with you, and I hope you are correct about it meaning fewer JCs.
I think there may be a looking at attitude more than actions, not just in the JC but also leading up to it.
Example, are they bragging about what they did to others.
I only hope that some don't use this to bring greater punishment on those who try to hid something because they are embarrassed.

False Prophets or Just Poor Interpreters?
by Vanderhoven7 inis the wts a false prophet organization?
are it's leaders false prophets?
or have they simply been guilty of poor interpretation from time to time?.

As Don does not mince words, this is not what I recommend to folks on the fence or active JWs
Funny you say that, I hid mine so well, it took me a while to find it.
But I was ready to read it.

I think you only need to ask him one question: Does he want to keep doing drywall for the rest of his life, or could he see himself doing something better?
