If I should ever have to deal with another elder telling me I should or shouldn't do something...a good "f*ck you* will probably be included in the conversation for sure.

I cussed a lot when I was a JW. Not around any other JW's, though, except for a few of my friends who all did, too.
Now, I swear all the time. Seriously, it's very rare for an hour to go by in my house without one swear word or another. They're just words. They hold the power you give to them, and that's it.
So yeah, I swear all the fucking time.

Remember When Jehovah's Witnesses Took Pride In Themselves?
by minimus inthere was a time when a witness would proudly tell others that they were jehovah's witnesses.
now, more jws skirt away from expressing what they are and who they represent.
in the old days, you could comment at a meeting and express the research you did on a subject.

Pride? No, I don't remember when JWs took pride in themselves. I was always embarrassed to tell others I was a JW. It feels better now that I can say "I used to be one, but not anymore."
I never told anyone I was a JW unless I absolutely had to for some reason. Now, I tell everyone I used to be one, haha. It's no problem to talk about now.

Twilight movies
by darnkid indoes anyone know exactly what the society has said on the twilight movies?
is it a matter of conscience or a real no-no?
my children are witnesses, i am df'd so i can't say anything, but one of them indulges in these movies and books-the baptized one who won't visit me or talk to me unless absolutely necessary.

I've been wondering about this, too, because I've seen a lot of JW's on Facebook with Twilight related pages on their profiles...I know that there is no way my parents would have allowed them in the house or let me read them. In fact, I was still living at home when I read the first book, and I remember holing up in my room to read it so it wouldn't be seen.

Traces of hypnosis in the new song book ?!?!?!
by EndofMysteries ini just said another startling insight!
after seeing it in so many songs, it finally clicked when i was checking song #97, old one #43.. now for those who have heard, the songs are super mellow now, the flow is....soothing.
at the district convention almost chanting like.

Yeah, the songs, the repeating of the same scriptures over and over again, the talks and articles are always recycled and reused...it's just to drive it all in. The more they tell you it, the more you believe it. Honestly, if I hadn't become inactive for a while, I might not have been able to leave, because when your mind is that programmed you can't just think about anything else.

I have changed sides
by AK - Jeff inalmost imperceptible over time in some areas.. almost everything i ever believed, i have proven to be false.
almost every bit of my deep seated faith is uprooted by reason.. i am not bitter.
but i am quite reflective these days of how much i have changed.

Is it really? I would be both surprised and not surprised at all, honestly. The changes they've made just since I left have blown my mind.
