Today, Bill, Erica were on the Fuhrman radio talk show. It was so good. An elder called in to refute the issues and Fuhrman just ripped him apart..is doing a follow-up show next Tues and says he is going to pursue this. He was appalled at the WT policies and was just floored that individuals couild go along with the absurdity of this organization. In addition, he said, "This sounds worse than the Catholics...at least they admit they have a problem. It seems that the WTS just is not going to admit to anything, much less do anything about it. They were on for 1.5 hrs. It was fantastic.

IAt least some of the elders give you the courtesy of calling first. . I have asked them numerous times in the past to call first as I work at home but this a.m. they showed up at 9:30. I was expecting my daughter so swung the door open and there they were. They didn't stay long...the ice eminating from my body was not comfortable so they said a few words of "encouragement" ...like you need to come back to the meetings, you need the association, blah, blah, blah...and left.
Hopefully, they won't feel the need to come back.

Did you ever get anyone baptized?
by freedom96 inwith all the door to door work, actually finding someone to study with was difficult enough, and then to actually bring them to the point of baptizm, that seemed nearly impossible.
but it has happened.
did you ever achieve that?

>I hate to admit it but I brought over 25 people into the WTS...some were acquaintances, some were friends or relatives of other JW's, but many were from door-to-door. Soon after I was baptized, I started studying with 3 people from one family that I found d-d and then several of their relatives came in from surrounding territories. Today I don't know where most of these people are. I tried to call one who I know is inactive to talk to her recently about my new found "truth" and she went ballistic, still loyal to the WTS.
I wish I knew how to get those people back out cause I sure feel bad about getting them in in the first place. A very dear friend of mine told her grown daughter tonight that she is out of the WTS and her daughter said, "Well, I guess we can't talk to each other anymore." Sadly, her daughter is one of the people I studied with. Yuk!!!

The coming "disassociations"
by Elsewhere ini have seen several threads about how the elders are going to be going around asking people if they still consider themselves to be jehovah's witnesses.
this will undoubtedly result in multiple da announcements in the coming months.
i'm curious how the average jw will perceive this and respond to it.

It seems to me that if they do this massive disassociation then it would give the wTS more control. As it is now, JW's can talk to inactive ones and many inactive ones are becoming "apostates" (I use that word loosely) soooo making us da'd prevents the good dubs from talking to us. I think this goes along with no subscriptions..so inactive ones can't get the literature. Then the 15 min of time provision ensures that the sick, elderly, etc. have no excuse for not getting time in so they won't be counted as inactive. It looks like a master plan to me...to keep tighter control of those who are still in and to keep them away from those who are out.

Brain Washing? Mind Control?
by Sirona indo the jehovahs witnesses use brain washing or mind control techniques?.
if a good dub attends 5 hours of meetings a week, does 2 hours of service a week and does 1 hour of personal study a week, this adds up to 416 hours a year of time thinking and being "taught" about jehovahs witness beliefs.
416 hours adds up to about 11 working weeks a year!

By definition, JW's are not really brainwashed, altho we may feel we were. But we were mind-controlled. Steve Hassan's book, "Combatting Cult Mind Control" explains the difference. This is a fantastic book for recognizing cults for those who haven't read it.
My mind must have really been controlled because I studied at least an hour for EVERY meeting plus read every magazine, book, etc., went in service 2-3 times a week when I wasn't pioneering, etc. No wonder people ask me if I have been living in a cave for the past 30 yrs. I didn't have time to read any outside material even if I had wanted to which of course I didn't, because everything else was worldy, apostate, or demonized.
So now I am working on how to be normal, whatever that is.

That recipe supposedly came from Neiman-Marcus or Marshall Fields but I heard recently that it was a rumor...however, THESE ARE THE BEST COOKIES IN THE WORLD.
I used Crisco shortening instead of the lard tho as I sometimes have Crisco in my kitchen but never buy lard.
Good luck with your project.
